CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE, NJ — Verizon Wireless and Assemblyman Van Drew recently joined forces to launch a 60-day phone collection drive to support Verizon Wireless' national HopeLineSM program, which benefits domestic violence victims. At the kickoff news conference, are (from left): New Jersey State Police Sergeant First Class Richard Tesauro; Assemblyman Jeff Van Drew; Kristen Raring Bixby, executive director, Coalition Against Rape and Abuse (C.A.R.A.) and Christine Baron, Philadelphia Tri-State Region President, Verizon Wireless.

Through the drive, which runs until September 15, no-longer-used wireless phones are being collected at sites throughout the region, including Assemblyman Van Drew's office at 21 North Main Street, Cape May Court House; Dennis Township Municipal Building, Dennisville; Lower Township Municipal Building, Villas; Middle Township Municipal Building, Cape May Court House; Ocean City Library, Ocean City; and Cape May County Library, Cape May Court House.

Verizon Wireless kicked off the drive by donating 50 phones to C.A.R.A, a local domestic violence prevention agency. In addition, the company will donate $1 to C.A.R.A. for every phone collected during the drive — up to $1,500.

As a result of HopeLine and related phone recycling programs Verizon Wireless has organized since 1995, the company has collected more than 1 million wireless phones for the benefit of domestic violence victims and advocacy groups. For more information, visit www.verizonwireless.com/hopeline.
