ROCHESTER, NY — Verizon Wireless said today it will add 120 full-time positions at its Henrietta-based call center over the next three months. Sixty jobs will be added in October and another 60 are planned for December. Additional expansion is expected after the first of the year. The company will host an on-site informational open house tomorrow from 2-6 p.m. at its regional headquarters at 133 Calkins Road in Henrietta to meet with potential applicants. The Henrietta call center now employs nearly 400 representatives, compared to 200 two years ago. The center could expand to more than 600 by the end of the first quarter of 2004. The company cites strong customer growth and the availability of a skilled local talent pool as the main drivers of the call center's continuing expansion.

"Today's announcement further endorses Verizon Wireless' commitment to the Rochester area and to maintaining superior customer service for our customers throughout the Northeast," said John Palmer, Upstate New York Regional President. "With this expansion, we're able to recognize the exceptional work of our employees, the quality of the local talent pool, and the potential for future growth in Monroe County."

The Henrietta call center handles more than 350,000 customer service calls from Verizon Wireless customers across the Northeast every month. Verizon Wireless currently employs more than 700 people in the Rochester area at its regional headquarters and call center in Henrietta, and in its seven local communications stores.

The new positions will offer competitive salary and benefits packages including medical, dental and vision coverage; participation in the company's 401k program from the first day of employment; tuition reimbursement; an annual bonus program; and a long-term incentive program. In addition, Verizon Wireless offers an exciting work environment and was recently named one of the Top 10 Healthiest Companies for Women in the U.S. by Health Magazine and one of Working Mother magazine's "100 Best Companies for Working Mothers" for the third consecutive year.

In July, Verizon Wireless announced second quarter subscriber growth of more than 1.3 million new customers nationwide. The increased subscriber growth has been attributed to the company's aggressive multi-billion dollar network investment to stay ahead of the growing demand for Verizon Wireless voice and data services and its continuing deployment of advanced wireless products and services. Providing superior customer service is only part of the company's commitment to offer customers the most reliable service available on the nation's largest wireless network.
