CHICAGO, IL — Verizon Wireless, the nation's largest provider of wireless communications, and the Chicago Bulls are teaming up to invite fans to help victims of domestic violence in our community.
On Saturday, March 13, 2004, no-longer-used wireless phones and accessories will be collected for the Verizon Wireless HopeLineSM program at the Verizon Wireless booth inside the United Center from 6 p.m. (gates open) through game time.
Through the Verizon Wireless HopeLine program, no-longer-used wireless handsets from any carrier are refurbished, recycled, and/or sold. Proceeds are donated to non-profit domestic violence advocacy organizations and used to purchase handsets for domestic violence victims, including those within Chicagoland.
"We appreciate the Bulls teaming up with us on this very important initiative," said Tracy Nolan, president of Verizon Wireless' Illinois/Wisconsin Region. "Bulls fans are the best in the league and I know they will want to help make a difference by bringing their phones on March 13. They truly can help provide a HopeLine to victims of domestic violence, an epidemic affecting more than 30 percent of American women during their lifetimes."
