MORRISTOWN, NJ — In a continuing effort to provide the best wireless service for local residents and commuters in Hudson County, Verizon Wireless, operator of the nation's most reliable wireless network, has expanded its network with three new cell sites, including two in Jersey City and one in Secaucus.
One of the Jersey City sites improves coverage near the Holland Tunnel, on Washington Avenue, Luis Munoz Boulevard, at the Newport Centre Mall and at the NJ Transit Terminal in Hoboken. The other new site in Jersey City provides additional coverage along the NJ Turnpike extension near exit 14B and on Bayview Avenue from Garfield Avenue to Edward Hall Drive. With the new Secaucus site, coverage is enhanced on the NJ Turnpike, on Routes 1 and 9 in North Bergen and West Side Avenue in Jersey City.
The new cell sites are part of the company's aggressive multi-billion dollar network investment each year to stay ahead of the growing demand for Verizon Wireless voice and data services, like two-way TXT messaging, Picture Messaging and high-speed Internet access. Verizon Wireless spends $1 billion every 90 days to expand and upgrade its nationwide wireless network.
Demand for Verizon Wireless services continued during the second quarter as the company added a record 1.5 million net new customers, more than any other wireless provider, and now serves 40.4 million customers nationwide. In addition, Verizon Wireless retained more customers than any other carrier during the 2nd quarter, posting the lowest churn rate in the industry and setting a record for the highest customer retention ever among major carriers in a quarter.

The engineers conduct more than 300,000 call attempts monthly on Verizon Wireless' and other national wireless carriers' networks while traveling over 100,000 miles of the most frequently traveled roadways nationwide in specially equipped, company-owned quality test vehicles.*
