Verizon Wireless And The Phoenix Suns Team Up To Provide A Hopeline For Victims Of Domestic Violence

CHANDLER, AZ — Verizon Wireless, owner and operator of the nation's most reliable wireless network, and the Phoenix Suns are teaming up for the fourth time to help curb domestic violence in our community. Fans attending the Suns game on Thursday, February 16, are invited to donate used wireless phones and accessories to benefit victims of domestic violence through the Verizon Wireless HopeLine® program. HopeLine drop boxes will be located at multiple entrances to the US Airways Center from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Through the Verizon Wireless HopeLine program, used wireless phones, batteries and accessories from any service provider are recycled, or refurbished and sold. Verizon Wireless uses the proceeds to award grants and to donate wireless phones with prepaid airtime to non-profit human services and law enforcement agencies to aid survivors of domestic violence. Suns fans have donated more than 450 used wireless phones and accessories to the program through collections in past seasons.

As part of its HopeLine program, Verizon Wireless also makes financial grants to local, regional and national domestic violence organizations. Last year, the company awarded $55,000 in HopeLine grants to Arizona domestic violence agencies, and donated 175 HopeLine wireless phones with one year of prepaid airtime to domestic violence agencies across the state to aid survivors.
