BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Whether heading out of town or staying home this Fourth of July, Verizon Wireless makes it easy for customers to manage their wireless accounts, giving them simple and secure ways to pay bills, check minute and data usage and handle wireless account details while on-the-go.

Payment Options
Verizon Wireless customers don't have to worry about finding a stamp for their monthly bills while on vacation — they can pay their balances online or right from their handsets.

Customers who want to pay their bill online can visit www.verizonwireless.com/myaccount and select the Pay Now Online option, to set up a one-time payment option by check or credit card. Customers can also register and sign up for Auto Bill Pay to have their monthly balance automatically deducted from their checking account or charged to a credit card.

Customers who prefer to pay by phone have two options. They can use Handset My Account, a free-of-charge service that allows contract customers to manage and review payments, as well as check balances; check minutes, message and kilobit (data) usage; view current plan and features; and change voicemail password all from their wireless phones.

Customers can also dial *611 (airtime free) from their wireless phone or 1-800-922-0204 from any phone, select option 1 and follow the prompts to pay by check or credit card. Customers may choose to securely store their payment information so they can call in each month to quickly and easily pay their bill.

Text Alerts and Account Information
Customers can set up free text message alerts to notify them of specific account and billing activity by visiting My Account. Once set up, consumers will receive text messages on their text messaging-capable phones with Bill Ready, Payment Confirmation and/or Change Features and Address information to help them keep track of any changes to their accounts.

Customers can also check the status of their accounts directly from their handsets.

  • Customers can dial #BAL (#225) + Send (airtime free) from their wireless phone to hear the details of their last five payment transactions, including the dates of payments and total balance paid. A text message with current balance information and last payment details, including the amount paid and the date the payment was received will automatically be sent to customers' wireless phones.
  • To hear information about minutes used, customers can dial #MIN (#646) + Send (airtime free) from their wireless phones. Customers will also receive a free text message detailing minutes used.
  • To stay on top of the number of text messages sent and received since the beginning of their billing cycle, customers can dial #DATA (#3282) + Send (airtime free) from their wireless phones. Customers will also receive a free text message with usage information included.

"Wireless phones give customers the freedom to travel and still feel connected to everyday life," said Jack Plating, executive vice president and chief operating officer for Verizon Wireless. "In addition to allowing vacationers to keep in touch with friends and family and stay in the loop on what is happening back at the office, our customers can also use their wireless phones to manage their accounts from wherever they are, so they can enjoy their vacation, instead of worrying about making a payment or using too many minutes."
