LAUREL, MD — In a continuing effort to provide the best wireless service for residents and visitors in the Hampton Roads area, Verizon Wireless, operator of the nation's most reliable wireless voice and data network has completed work that increases the number of calls its network can handle for customers. Coverage and capacity have been increased in South Hampton Roads, including Woods Corner, Fentress, Great Bridge, and Greenbrier.

Verizon Wireless has invested more than $40 billion since it was formed seven years ago to stay ahead of the growing demand for the company's voice and data services, like text and picture messaging; VZ NavigatorSM, which provides audible turn-by-turn directions; and V CAST Music which allows customers to download full songs directly to their V CAST-capable wireless phones and Microsoft® Windows® XP-based PCs.

"Investment in our network is an investment in customer satisfaction," said Tami Erwin, president of the company's Washington, Baltimore, Virginia region. "An outstanding customer experience begins with connecting and holding calls, and customers continue to choose Verizon Wireless because we have the nation's most reliable wireless voice and data network."

Strong demand for Verizon Wireless services continued during the second quarter of 2007 as the company reported 1.3 million total net customer additions. Verizon Wireless also sustained its best-in-industry customer loyalty — posting a customer turnover rate of 1.3% in the second quarter, well below the rate reported by the other major wireless carriers.

Verizon Wireless was the first national wireless provider to commercially launch a high-speed wireless broadband network in the United States. BroadbandAccess service provides customers with high-speed Internet access, access to corporate intranets and traditional e-mail functionality via laptop computers and personal digital assistants.

Verizon Wireless recently introduced its 30-day Test Drive, an industry first that lets customers experience its network virtually risk-free for 30 days. If customers are not satisfied with their experience and take their number to another carrier, Verizon Wireless will refund their money for calls, equipment, activation fee, and taxes. Nationally, Verizon Wireless' real-life test men and women drive nearly 100 specially-equipped vehicles almost 1,000,000 miles every year on Interstate, U.S. and state highways and major roads and streets in high-population areas, based upon U.S. Census counts, to make sure that voice calls and data connections are successful on the first attempt and stay connected. Vehicles are equipped with computers that automatically make more than three million voice call attempts and more than 16 million data tests annually on Verizon Wireless' network and the networks of other carriers.

*Editors Note: Test Man Ride-Along Program
