BASKING RIDGE, NJ, and SAN FRANCISCO — Verizon Wireless said on the eve of CTIA WIRELESS I.T. & Entertainment 2008 in San Francisco it is launching m.vcast.com, a new site that brings the best of V CAST Video content to the Mobile Web. With m.vcast.com, customers can sample what V CAST Video has to offer by watching clips of the latest content added to the site.

Leveraging the streaming video capability of the HTML Web browser on select handsets and the growing popularity of mobile video, m.vcast.com allows customers to browse content by category, channel or show, then watch and share that video with their friends and other wireless users. Customers can create a username and account, which gives them the ability to access and share other content and Web sites, including the social networking site Twitter.

“With m.vcast.com, customers who want to learn about the latest videos from many different providers can find them quickly and easily, and at the same time, can share what they’ve found with their social networks online so their friends can get to them quickly and easily through the HTML browser on their handsets,” said Jennifer Byrne, director of digital media at Verizon. “This is another way V CAST can provide entertainment and information to people when it’s relevant and most convenient for them.”

Customers can find m.vcast.com by launching Mobile Web from their handsets, clicking on the Entertainment channel, then clicking on Videos where it appears with other great choices that incorporate streaming video, including YouTube™. The Mobile Web site is currently available on Verizon Wireless phones with HTML browsers, including the Voyager™ by LG and the LG Dare™. More devices with HTML browser capabilities are expected to be available soon.

Buzzwire, a Mobile Web application company, is working with Verizon Wireless to develop and deliver m.vcast.com. Unlimited Mobile Web usage is included with a $15.00 monthly V CAST VPak subscription, which also includes access to V CAST Video, V CAST Music and Get It Now® applications. Alternatively, customers can access Mobile Web for free with a Nationwide Plan but will incur usage charges of $1.99 per megabyte.
