WALNUT CREEK, CA — The Golden State Warriors and Verizon Wireless invite fans to go ‘green’ and help curb domestic violence.
Fans attending the Warriors’ home game against the Dallas Mavericks at Oracle Arena on Friday, March 13 can donate their used wireless phones and accessories to the Verizon Wireless HopeLineÒ phone recycling program. Drop boxes will be located outside near the box office and on the concourse at Oracle Arena.
Fans donating phones will receive a two-for-one ticket voucher for a future Warriors game and will be entered for a chance to meet swingman Kalenna Azubuike after the game, courtesy of the Golden State Warriors. At last year’s special collection, Golden State Warriors fans donated more than 300 used wireless phones and accessories for recycling.
“Our partnership with Verizon Wireless and the HopeLine program gives Warriors fans the opportunity to make a positive impact in our community,” said Robert Rowell, Golden State Warriors president. “By donating an old cell phone to HopeLine, our fans can feel good about recycling and helping those in need.”
“Thanks to this support for HopeLine from Warriors fans and the greater community, we awarded more than $546,000 in grants and donated 2,330 phones with seven million free minutes to California domestic violence agencies last year,” said Rich Garwood, regional president for Verizon Wireless.
“Together, we are making a difference in raising awareness of domestic violence and we’re helping the environment by keeping old wireless phones out of landfills.”
