DEXTER, MI — Verizon Wireless has activated a new cell site in Dexter, which enables more customers to use their wireless phones to make calls; send and receive e-mail and text, picture and video messages; access the Internet; view high-quality videos; and download music, games and ringtones, while enjoying clearer reception and fewer dropped calls.

The new cell site, which is equipped with a permanent backup generator for times of emergency, improves voice and data coverage on the western edge of Dexter and in Hudson Mills as well as along the following major roads:

  • Dexter Pinkney Road from just north of I-94 to just south of Pinkney; and
  • North Territorial Road from just east of Zeeb Road to Madden Road.

“This new cell site was built to ensure that our customers in Dexter and Hudson Mills can continue relying on their phones for everything from making calls and sending messages to surfing the Internet and getting e-mail,” said Greg Haller, president–Michigan/Indiana/Kentucky Region, Verizon Wireless. “The most advanced device is only as good as the network it runs on. We aggressively invest in our Michigan network to increase coverage and capacity for our customers and continue to raise the bar in network reliability.”

Verizon Wireless has invested more than $55 billion since it was formed—$5.5 billion on average every year—to increase the coverage and capacity of its premier nationwide network and to add new services. Since the company was formed in 2000, Verizon Wireless has invested more than $1.4 billion on improvements to its wireless network in Michigan.
