GARRETTSVILLE, OH — Verizon Wireless, the wireless company with the nation’s largest 3G network, has activated a new cell site in Garrettsville, which enables more customers to use their wireless phones concurrently to make calls; send and receive e-mail and text, picture and video messages; view high-quality videos; access the Internet; and download music, games and ringtones, while enjoying clearer reception and fewer dropped calls.
The new cell site improves coverage in northeast Garrettsville, along Center Road (County Road 293) as far east as Hopkins Road and as far west as State Route 88 and along Brosius Road (County Road 289) as far north as State Route 305 and as far south as Eagle Creek.
“Even the most advanced cell phone is only as good as the network it runs on,” said Roger Tang, president – Ohio/Pennsylvania/West Virginia Region, Verizon Wireless. “That’s why we continue to aggressively invest in our Ohio network to increase coverage and capacity for our customers, add new services, and maintain our 3G network leadership.”
This network improvement is part of Verizon Wireless’ continual effort to expand coverage, improve capacity and enhance the quality of its wireless voice and data network in Ohio and throughout the country. Verizon Wireless has invested more than $55 billion since it was formed – $5.5 billion on average every year – to increase the coverage and capacity of its premier nationwide network and to add new services. In 2009, the company invested more than $335 million in its Ohio network.
