BASKING RIDGE, NJ — GRAMMY® Award-winning artist, writer and producer, Donald Lawrence, will lead the first ever Verizon’s How Sweet the Sound Choir Boot Camp, presented in partnership with the Stellar Awards. Registration is now open for the unique two-day program that offers choirs the chance to receive music instruction and counsel from some of the most respected names in the gospel industry, perfect their skills, network, and learn more about the upcoming 2011 Verizon’s How Sweet the Sound choir celebration. In addition to Lawrence, who will act as Head Master, gospel notables V. Michael McKay, Judith McAllister, JJ Hairston, Aaron Lindsey, James Robinson and Earl Bynum will each serve as Choir Masters, leading seminars and workshops designed to empower choirs to further develop their talent and music ministry. Verizon’s How Sweet the Sound Choir Boot Camp will take place from Jan. 12 to 15 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort, Nashville, Tenn.

The activities commence with a welcome reception on Jan. 12, followed by two days of seminars and workshops and a sneak peak at the Stellar Awards rehearsal and conclude with the Boot Camp Certificate Awards Breakfast. The Stellar Awards will be held on Jan. 15 at 6 p.m. The workshops will include:

  • Workshop 1: Pulling the Best from Your Choir
  • Workshop 2: The Gifting of Music
  • Workshop 3: Songwriting/Arranging
  • Workshop 4: Choir Ministry: Beyond the Walls of Your Church
  • Workshop 5: The Business of Music
  • Workshop 6: The Highest Praise
  • Workshop 7: Production
