GREEN BAY, WI — Verizon Wireless today announced a $5,000 Verizon Foundation grant for Golden House in Green Bay. The grant will help the organization continue to reach toward its mission to provide essential services for victims of domestic violence within Brown County and surrounding regions.

“With the help of organizations like the Verizon Foundation we are able to continue providing valuable services for our community,” said Karen Faulkner, executive director, Golden House. “We are thankful for Verizon’s support and this wonderful example of our community coming together.”

The grant was presented by Verizon Wireless on behalf of the Verizon Foundation.

“Verizon Wireless is honored to be able to offer this grant to Golden House,” said T.J. Fox, region president, Verizon Wireless. “In these difficult economic times, nonprofit organizations are in even greater need of corporate support and involvement.”

The Verizon Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Verizon Communications, supports the advancement of literacy and K-12 education through its signature program, Thinfinity.org, and fosters awareness and prevention of domestic violence. In 2010, the Verizon Foundation awarded nearly $67 million in grants to nonprofit agencies in the U.S. and abroad. Through Verizon Volunteers, one of the nation’s largest employee volunteer programs, Verizon employees and retirees have volunteered nearly six million hours of community service since 2000.
