TOPEKA, KS — Verizon Wireless announced today that it has awarded a Verizon Foundation grant of $2,906 to Kansas Family Career and Community Leaders of America (KS FCCLA), which exists to promote personal growth and leadership development through family and consumer sciences education. The grant will be used to support scholarships for members to help them pay for their post-high school education.
“Verizon Wireless is proud to support the Kansas FCCLA,” said Brendan Fallis, president – Kansas/Missouri region, Verizon Wireless. “This grant will help the Kansas FCCLA reward members who have worked hard throughout their time in the program and ensure they have opportunities for continued growth.”
KS FCCLA’s scholarship program focuses on the importance of strong, positive leadership among its high school-aged teen membership. Members eligible to receive these scholarships have participated in myriad programs about social issues, including health and social violence, among many others.
