BOISE, ID — Verizon Wireless, owner of the nation’s largest 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network, announced today the expansion of its 4G LTE network in 22 markets, including Idaho and eastern Oregon, where its 4G LTE network is already available. This expansion, which takes place officially on Thursday, June 21, will enable customers in more areas of Idaho and eastern Oregon, to take advantage of the company’s blazing fast 4G LTE speeds and connectivity.  In addition to the expansions in 22 markets, the company will introduce its 4G LTE network in 46 new markets the same day.  With the new and expanded markets, the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network will be available in a total of 304 markets, covering more than two-thirds of the U.S. population.

Verizon Wireless first launched its 4G LTE network in the Boise metro area in June 2011. With the upcoming network expansion, residents in western Idaho and eastern Oregon along the Snake River from the Nyssa Valley to the Weiser Valley, including Ontario and Payette, will have access to the nation’s fastest 4G network. On the eastern side of Idaho, 4G LTE coverage will expand to include Blackfoot from the Fort Hall Indian Reservation north to Shelley, near the Bingham County line.

“The expansion of our 4G LTE network in Idaho and eastern Oregon demonstrates our commitment to continuously expand the network and provide our customers with the highest quality communications standards,” said Chris Lewter, regional president.  “Our 4G LTE network allows our customers to download music or upload photos faster than ever before, broadening their communications possibilities with family, friends and colleagues.”

4G LTE Devices, Solutions and Plans
Verizon Wireless customers can choose from the largest selection of 4G LTE devices, ranging from tablets and mobile hotspots to the latest smartphones and more, including the Samsung Galaxy S® III, currently available online for pre-order, and the soon-to-be available DROID INCREDIBLE 4G LTE by HTC.  Details on available devices can be found at www.verizonwireless.com/4GLTE and information on plans and pricing is available at www.verizonwireless.com/plans.

Verizon Wireless also offers a variety of smart accessories, including the FitBit Ultra Wireless Activity Tracker and the Withings WiFi Scale, for customers to use with their 4G LTE devices. A full list of smart accessories can be found at www.verizonwireless.com/smartaccessories.

Additionally, customers can take advantage of recently introduced HomeFusion Broadband, a solution that leverages the power and speed of the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network to deliver high-speed, in-home Internet access for residential broadband, particularly in areas where Internet options are limited or are not currently available.

4G LTE Coverage and Speed
In real-world, fully loaded network environments, Verizon Wireless 4G LTE customers should experience average data rates of 5 to 12 megabits per second (Mbps) on the downlink and 2 to 5 Mbps on the uplink.

When customers travel outside of a 4G LTE coverage area, 4G LTE devices automatically connect to Verizon Wireless’ 3G network, enabling customers to stay connected from coast to coast.  Verizon Wireless’ 3G network is the most reliable high-speed data network in the country and allows customers in 3G coverage areas who purchase 4G LTE devices today to take advantage of 4G LTE speeds when the faster network becomes available in their area, or when they travel to areas already covered by 4G LTE.
