Philanthropy, groundbreaking speed and a little fun. Verizon Wireless celebrated the launch of 4G LTE launch in Hattiesburg, Mississippi with a community event at its store on Highway 98.
”Today is a very special day for Verizon Wireless as we mark the celebration of 419 Verizon Wireless 4G LTE markets across the United States,” said Craig Snow, Verizon Wireless Hattiesburg store manager, to a crowd gathered in front of the store. “Today, Hattiesburg and Laurel residents had the opportunity to see firsthand how 4G LTE will revolutionize the speed and experience of mobile connectivity.”
In conjunction with the celebration and in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Verizon Wireless presented a $4,000 grant to Domestic Abuse Family Shelter of Hattiesburg-Laurel to support the shelter’s work in preventing domestic violence in the community.
“For the Domestic Abuse Family Shelter, this contribution will have a huge impact on our ability to affect change among domestic violence victims in Hattiesburg,” said Joy Lubritz, Domestic Abuse Family Shelter board president.
Those in attendance were encouraged to support victims of domestic violence by donating no-longer-used wireless devices to the HopeLine from Verizon, the company’s national cell phone recycling program that supports domestic violence victims and survivors.
The recent launch of 4G LTE service in Hattiesburg, and more than 20 other cities, expands Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE network to 419 markets, surpassing its original goal of covering 400 markets by the end of 2012.
