TULSA, Okla. (April 24, 1995)-- WilTel, a wholly owned subsidiary of LDDS Communications, has instituted an agent program to sell WilPak Frame Relay services, effective immediately. WilTel already uses an agent program to sell other products. "Establishing an agent program allows WilTel to quickly expand our frame relay sales effort with qualified salespeople," said Joe Meisner, WilTel's marketing manager for indirect channels. "We expect our market share to grow as a result of the agent program."

The program was beta tested successfully in the last quarter of 1994. "We anticipate numerous companies will want to sell WilTel's WilPak Frame Relay product given discussions we've had to date," added Meisner. Companies who participate in the agent program must make a revenue commitment to WilTel, appoint an agent program manager to act as liaison between WilTel and the agent company, submit to a credit background check and have experienced personnel in data sales who must successfully complete WilTel's two-day WilPak Frame Relay agent sales training course. "This program is just the latest in WilTel's effort to expand product and services to our carrier and reseller customers," said Charles Cole, vice president of carrier sales.

Agents will sell WilPak Frame Relay under the WilTel name and the end user will be a WilTel customer. Installation, billing and ongoing support of WilPak Frame Relay will be WilTel's responsibility.

WilTel is a full-service telecommunications company that offers domestic and international data, voice and video products and services to carriers and large business customers. WilTel operates a nationwide fiber-optic network for its parent company, LDDS, which is one of the four largest U.S.-based long-distance carriers. The shares of LDDS Communications Inc., trade on The NASDAQ Stock Market under the symbol LDDS.
