Hans Vestberg wanted to be a professional handball player, he sits on the board of the UN Foundation and the Whitaker Peace and Development initiative, he is the President of the Swedish Olympic Committee, Hans has lived in seven countries and he speaks five languages. Now, he’s our Global Network & Technology leader.
These are just a handful of things we learned when we sat down recently with Hans Vestberg for our latest installment of Up to Speed: A Verizon Podcast. In this episode, Hans discusses his vision for a connected world, his transition to life in the U.S., 5G and the role Verizon will play in leading the 5th technology revolution.
Within 5 years, just about everyone in the world will have real-time access to the same information. Whether you’re a student in Somalia or a doctor in Denver everyone will be connected.
That’s a bold vision. And, that’s the future that Hans sees coming to fruition.
“People think technology has been developing very fast. Lots of people have been connected to the Internet. Three billion people have access. That took us 15 years. Now, in less than 5 years, we’ll have three billion more,” Hans said.
“That will give people on this earth the same chances, the same access to education and I don’t think we understand how that will impact our globe. Where real-time information will be available for everyone.”
