• Group lead to build, drive and implement category strategy and perform ongoing spend management of contingent labor across the Verizon global footprint
  • Collaboratively lead various cross functional teams to develop Verizon’s global requirements and reach consensus to achieve Verizon’s goals and objectives
  • Lead the global expansion and optimization of contingent worker processes as well as the consolidation of Verizon’s MSPs and contingent worker software applications
  • Build and maintain a supplier relationship management framework with MSP partners, VMS provider and staffing suppliers, designing and implementing operating models based on a governance structure with measureable/enforceable service level agreements and key performance indicators
  • Establish and maintain a robust compliance and governance framework to ensure that Verizon’s Contingent Worker Policy is enforced with internal business partners as well as the CWP supply base
  • Manage the ongoing consolidation of regional and local procurement of contingent labor throughout the Verizon global footprint into the centralized CWP
  • Lead consolidation and integration efforts involving contingent labor procurement practices following mergers/acquisitions undertaken by Verizon
  • Build and implement strategy with relation to the use of Sourcing and Procurement systems and tools to enable to end-to-end contingent labor process
  • Drive all aspects of complex strategic sourcing process including but not limited to taking lead on contract negotiations of business and pricing terms and conditions, conducting research and providing benchmark data on pricing and/or other key terms and conditions, facilitating RFP’s, and working with the internal business partners to develop negotiations strategy, objectives and plans
  • Provide direction and leadership to Sourcing in support of business initiatives that provide operational efficiencies to Verizon and optimize the customer experience
  • Responsible for workload assignment/balancing of Sourcing Request Forms (SRF)s and/or other Sourcing requirements from internal business stakeholders in order to ensure that Sourcing support matches the needs of the business
  • Analyze and assess staffing supplier performance data and define staffing supplier service level agreements and key performance indicators in order to drive continuous staffing supplier optimization
  • Conduct quarterly business reviews as well as annual governance/strategy reviews with MSP as well as internal Verizon stakeholders across the business
  • Work with virtual teams, suppliers and business partners, in different countries, managing cross-cultural issues while maintaining positive relationships; establish a culture of team collaboration, accountability and operational excellence
  • Establish and influence operational policies and procedures; managing and improving the operational processes, policies, and systems in support of the WSP’s mission
  • Integrate large scale cost savings initiatives across the team in order to drive results across the Verizon global footprint
  • Collaborate with key internal business partners to assess their needs on an ongoing basis and work closely with them on key initiatives to ensure alignment between the teams on deadlines, and/or other important strategy factors

Verizon’s Global Supply Chain Services is transforming the Global Strategic Sourcing Group and is seeking dynamic professionals who are interested in joining our team.  The Category Manager position plays a lead role in supporting Verizon's cost savings and revenue generation goals through the management of complex sourcing and procurement activities for large spend category areas.

Verizon seeks a professional with extensive experience in the Staffing and Contingent Labor industry along with strong Sourcing and Supplier management expertise.  This position will be responsible for managing Verizon’s Global Contingent Workforce Solutions Program (WSP), an outsourced managed, software-based platform for the end-to-end procurement of contingent labor and SOW management across the global Verizon footprint amounting to almost a $1B spend per year. 

The WSP Category Manager must have strong experience in supplier negotiations, data gathering and analysis, finance, business partner and supplier relationship management.  This individual must be able to simultaneously manage multiple time-sensitive projects and build strong working relationships with internal business partners (Audit, Finance, HR, IT, Legal, Operations, etc.) as well as a supply base which includes managed service providers (MSPs), a third party vendor management system (VMS) software provider, and 200+ staffing suppliers.  The individual will be responsible for a team of approximately 6 direct reports and approximately 50 MSP contractor personnel.  Key aspects of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Strategic and proactive approach to manage, problem solve and lead Verizon’s global WSP
  • Building collaborative relationships with our internal business partners as well as strategic relationships with our suppliers 
  • Successfully leading the sourcing process and ensuring it is completed according to Verizon’s policies and goals 
  • Negotiating to achieve favorable contracts and services
  • Leveraging cross category opportunities and leading efforts within Verizon to drive business opportunities and synergies
  • Actively managing multiple time-sensitive requests efficiently and effectively
  • Effectively interfacing with all levels of management, contract management, Legal and SMEs across Verizon
  • Gather, analyze and engage data driven results while leveraging financial acumen
  • Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Engineering, or equivalent discipline

  • Six or more years of related experience in the one or more of the following areas:
  • Project Management in complex multi-project and multi-geography environment
  • Experience in contract negotiations to include business, price and technical terms
  • Knowledge, experience and/or business acumen in the areas of staffing, HR and/or contingent workforce, specifically Managed Service Provider (MSP) programs
  • Familiarity with vendor management systems (VMS), contingent workforce management systems and/or services procurement systems such as Fieldglass, Beeline or IQNavigator
  • Experience in Strategic Sourcing and/or Contract Management
  • RFP experience
  • Experience leading Cross Functional Teams
  • Knowledge of Strategic Sourcing processes, policies, and procedures
  • Experience in financial and data analysis and supplier assessment
  • Proficient SAP, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience developing resolutions to complex problems that require the frequent use of creativity
  • Experience in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
