Verizon has announced plans to sell select data centers to Equinix.  This position will be included as part of the planned sale.

  • Build circuit cross-connections within the Managed Services Suites.

  • Build and provide bandwidth utilization reports for customers.

  • Configuring / integrating in-house workstations and servers.

  • Configuring / integrating customer servers.

  • Configuring in-house and customer networking devices (all sites).

  • Perform circuit migrations onto the newly deployed optical platform.

  • Complete managed hosting expedites and changes.

  • Troubleshooting customer routing + switching equipment.

  • Troubleshooting customer servers (multi-OS).

  • Perform data backup tape rotations for customers and in-house.

  • Serve as technical apprentice to IP Engineering Tier 2 (help complete CM's, etc).

  • Prepare and maintain all circuit labels within the meet point rooms.

  • Perform special customer requests in accordance with their respective SLA's (i.e. Citrix Rack and stack any networking equipment for customers and in-house.

  • Provide customer technical support for the Arsenal backup environment.

  • Responsible for the monitoring and completion of 3 different queues within Remedy (Service Center, OMG, NOC).

  • Provisioning facility access for customers and personnel.

  • Serve as a technical council for customers as well as in-house (sales and SECNOC).

  • Document any provider-level maintenance windows that will be service-impacting.

  • Escalate to appropriate group whenever network outages or assistance is required.

  • Support Installations on any cable creations or modifications.

  • Provisioning of xconnect ports (within Remedy + EPP database).

  • Provisioning facility access for customers and personnel.

  • Processing customer work orders and ODT's upon request from other departments (IFC's, xconns, etc).

  • Build circuit cross-connections within the meet point room.

  • Build interconnections within the peering room panels and both meet point rooms.

  • Build and provide bandwidth utilization reports for customers.

  • Configuring Stratum clocking services for customers.

  • Complete circuit hot-cuts for customers and in-house.

  • Train in-house personnel on new operations procedures.

  • Process new xconnect requests in the event that Service Center is unavailable.

  • Troubleshooting customer circuits.

  • Update ARIN SWIP records for customers.

  • Manage peering room walkway displays.

  • Perform equipment inventory (as directed by legal).

  • Prepare, test, run, and dress any type of circuit on any medium of networking cable (ABAM, coaxial, and fiber).

  • Rack and stack any networking equipment for customers and in-house.

  • Perform security walkthroughs throughout the building outside of normal operating hours.


Must have:

  • An Associate’s degree or equivalent experience.

  • One or more years of relevant experience.

  • A+ Certification.

  • Flexibility to work in a 24x7 environment.

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • Certification in  CCNA, Network +, or Server +

  • One or more years of experience with the following areas: Build and troubleshoot servers, Support and Install Router, Build Network gear, Troubleshoot network problems.

  • Understanding of how to do back-up for customer.

  • Experience with troubleshooting cross-connects.

  • Linux Plus.

  • IBM gear.

  • Experience with testing different type of circuits, equipment and loading software.

  • Good customer service and communication skills

  • Bi-lingual a plus

  • Experience in Data Communications Networking.
