What you’ll be doing...

This internship position, which is part of the overall Verizon Campus Program, will give you a chance to channel your drive and enthusiasm. You will be front and center, hands-on and contributing your creative energy to high-impact projects from the moment you arrive through the course of the 10 week experience.


You will take part in meaningful work and real-life projects within the Global Products and Solutions Organization that will help you grow both professionally and personally throughout the program. You'll learn from the best minds in the industry and have a chance to enhance your product development knowledge in an environment that’s dedicated to industry superiority.

In this role, you may have the opportunity to:

  • Make contributions to Cloud based software development projects under the umbrella of Verizon Smart Cities (Lighting, Parking and Traffic solutions) using Scala, noSQL, Rest API’s.
  • Enhance development and test automation infrastructure using Mocha, Locust, Go.
  • Make significant improvements in the build, develop and deployment processes using Github and Jenkins.
  • Learn and improve software development and release collaboration tools. (Jira/Confluence/Slack) by integrating them with team level email notifications /dashboards/metrics etc.

You’ll need to have:

  • Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent major with an expected completion date between December 2018 and June 2021.

Even better if you have:

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Current enrollment in a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent major with an expected completion date between December 2018 and June 2021.
  • Strong technical knowledge of software development methodologies, standards and coding best practices, as well as web development and/or enterprise databases.
  • Basic knowledge and/or experience in any of the following: JAVA, C++ and/or Python, Scala, Kafka, MQTT, SQL, noSQL, MySQL, NodeJs and/or Hadoop.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: Cloud Infrastructure, Microservices, Rest APIs, Continuous Integration and deployment, Telemetry software.
  • Previous related internship/work experience.
  • Demonstrated independent thinking, relationship management and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytic, communication, leadership and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-moving, team environment.
