Responsibilities

This position is for a Software Development Manager responsible for Employee/Customer Experience Content Management Applications. The needs of the Business require that we deliver best in class Web Portal that engage employees, represents Verizon Brand and Culture to attract right talent and inform investors. With the right vision, this team has resources to create best in class solutions, drive consistency, and bring critical innovation in line with Verizon's brand and Credo. 

The person in this role will need to have strong background in managing enterprise scale web development projects and more specifically in Drupal technologies. As a Manager this person is accountable for productivity of the software development team including ensuring development practices meet business requirements, are timely and adhere to Verizon security policies. The Software Development Manager will have direct management responsibilities for their team and is responsible for career planning, performance reviews, task assignments as well as other duties as necessary. This person will also be responsible to drive efforts around DevOps processes and migration to cloud.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working closely with the business partners, IT Executives and development team to deliver enterprise scale web/mobile applications
  • Manage one or more software development teams on projects of moderate to large size and complexity
  • Act as an expert on the platform in various capacities, strategy meetings, and application development opportunities
  • Hire, mentor and do performance appraisals, and pay reviews of team members

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in managing/leading software developers, project managers and testers
  • Experience building high-performance, enterprise applications at scale that satisfy stated business objectives (innovation, scalability, quality improvement, cost avoidance/reduction)
  • Demonstrated technical competency and ability to organize teams and drive technical implementations in alignment with business needs
  • Significant prior experience with web application technologies (Drupal, Java, JavaScript, MySQL etc.)
  • B.S. in related area or equivalent work experience
  • Passion for quality and continuous improvement of processes and software, well versed with software engineering practices (e.g. Continuous Engineering, Build/Deploy, Unit Testing, Regression Testing, Test & Staging Environments)
  • Experience managing Agile processes and Scrum teams
  • Exceptional management and people skills, ability to manage personnel activities of staff
  • Experience leading SCRUM development teams
  • Strong understanding of Enterprise Scale Web applications and Content Management Systems
  • Effective written and verbal communication
  • Must be able and willing to work in a high energy, dynamic and fast paced development environment
