Responsibilities

Verizon’s Public Policy Law and Security team is seeking an experienced, intellectually curious and creative attorney to advise its Enterprise IoT Product teams on a variety of complex initiatives aimed at bringing cutting edge security solutions to market.  If you have demonstrated experience counseling technology clients and negotiating a wide range of commercial arrangements such as strategic partnerships, reseller, licensing, development, joint marketing, and trial agreements this position may be perfect for you.

  • Draft, review, and negotiate agreements necessary to support strategic partnerships such as MOUs, LOIs, NDAs, JMAs, etc.    

  • Counsel clients on issues associated with go-to-market literature and activities such as hack-a-thons, sweepstakes, and other contests.

  • Use internal subject matter experts and partners across the company to drive business outcomes and on-time product launches.

  • Mitigate risk by vetting potential partners and conducting pre-launch product reviews to surface and close issues related to data privacy, security, export control, applicability of other regulatory standards, etc.

Qualifications

Must have:

  • A JD degree from a top tier law school with strong academic performance.

  • Active and in good standing with bar admission in at least one state.  

  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Three or more years of experience in-house or with a firm.   

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

Ideally you’ll also have:

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage time, prioritize multiple responsibilities, and handle a high volume of competing executive visibility obligations with accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Proven ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

  • Demonstrated ability to interact comfortably with all levels of personnel and communicate legal requirements clearly and without losing focus of client objectives.

  • Proven ability to handle extremely sensitive and confidential information.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly both in writing and orally.

  • Knowledge of public key infrastructure (PKI) technology and defense in depth strategies such as digital certificates, authentication standards, and the use of digital credentials to increase security are highly desired.
