What you’ll be doing...

Location and Big Data services are critical stack components to the success of Verizons new business lines of Advertising (Oath), Telematics, IoT and more. These vertical business units represent the future of revenue for the company. The horizontal data platforms underlying them are built and run by a team called Emerging Platforms. This Head of Sales role for the Emerging Platforms team will manage a team of sellers working directly with the market to generate new money, as well as continue to drive adoption of these data services across Verizons investments internally.

The Emerging Platform data business is a portfolio of products and services that includes such diverse offerings as a location developer platform and toolkit, big data predictive analytics from proprietary machine learning and consumer insights built off intelligence gleaned from Verizons 114M customer mobile network. There are also consumer facing applications, like Mapquest with its 44M multi-platform user base, which specialize in providing advertisers custom solutions around local search, travel and navigation. The collection of solutions from this group continues to grow and evolve and we are looking for the best, brightest, and most passionate people to guide thismission-critical venture.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Manage all revenue efforts end-to-end including the platform for self-service developers (product, engineering, design, user flow, backend integration), the advertising monetization of consumer applications and the direct to enterprise sales for high volume data sales and our big data solutions
  • Develop deep, strategic and senior relationships with key decision makers within the existing and prospect client base internally within Verizon (Oath, Telematics, the core business, etc) and externally
  • Define the B2B business with full scope ownership of GTM strategy, pricing, sales strategy, support infrastructure and deal flow
  • Be a force in gathering voice of customer feedback from advertisers and enterprises to help define solutions that fit the markets whitespaces and meet the buyers needs
  • Work closely with the B2B marketing team to define strategy, implementation and deliverables for all marketing activities for the B2B client base
  • Ownership of the P&L (including T&E, sales targets, comp plans, resourcing, etc) across each team function
  • Establish deep relationships with supporting teams across the org that create the portfolio the team is selling, including engineering, product, marketing, executives to drive product improvements and sales forethought in the planning and release processes
  • Be an industry voice for our branded services, both internally and externally within the developer community, high level sales meetings and industry events
  • Consistently deliver sales targets every quarter
  • Build and refine internal processes seeking efficiencies in both time and client management

What we’re looking for...

You will have

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 15+ years experience in sales, product, marketing and other general management responsibilities with preference for experience in the geospatial area

  • MBA preferred

  • The ability to balance the art and science by solving problems using quantitative, qualitative, and market demand driven approaches

  • Passion for helping businesses accomplish their goals and working for a new, developing or underdog product
  • Travel: as needed
    • 40% of travel to clients on an as needed basis
  • A commitment to not take yourself too seriously and to always look for the fun
  • Excellent written, verbal and pitch communication skills
