Represents the Finance / CFO org in various transformational initiatives, ensuring reporting tools, processes, booked results, trending detail and metrics are developed and appropriate to meet the analytical needs of the Finance and Marketing organizations.

Also assists in managing the product dimension and associated mappings, projects, and analyses for Finance and all end users & constituents in the product reporting realm.

Areas of responsibility include:

  1. Project Support, Financial Initiatives, and System Development

Manage in-team projects for the development and enhancement of sponsored IT tools, and to be tower lead for our area as needed to support other projects such as Rapid Delivery, System Conversions, Customer Migrations, acquisitions, and consolidations.

  • Provide subject matter expertise for the Global Product Hierarchy structure and related systems as well as for the broader needs of CFO/FP&A org in system development, integrations, transformations, and departmental initiatives
  • Areas of support include the many transformation initiatives in progress, such as Rapid Delivery, Finance Transaction Mapping tool migration, Millennium Migration, Bill at Once Migration, and the Prime Biller US / PBEE launch & expansion.
  • Leverage vision and foresight, anticipating the future needs of the business to identify and document needed system enhancements. Involves the ability to analyze current system constructs and functions and to develop new requirements based on team charters, as well as new business direction and strategies
  • Develop business cases for capital programs needed to improve charter systems. This includes cost benefit analysis, executive level summaries, and meeting with IT teams to understand overall development requirements and impacts so that initial LOEs can be developed, projects can be scoped and prioritized, funding secured, and initiatives incorporated into release schedules.
  • Manage projects using necessary automation tools to define project milestones, overall schedules, task assignments, and deliverables
  • Writing of business requirements (Breqs) and providing assistance with strategy and implementation. Requirements can stem from team charter as well as from the impact of other corporate initiatives on the team’s processes and system functions. Additionally, efforts may extend to the contribution of requirements to other teams and initiatives in order to keep our business functions whole, accurate, and timely as inter-operative business units change
  • Assistance for the IT teams to convert business requirements into efficient operational application system design. This includes the review, critique, and approval of system requirements (Sreqs) as well as detailed Application Design documents.
  • Develop, manage, and execute UAT test plans that ensure all key deliverables are tested, that minimize risk in all production releases, and that occur within rapid application development schedules
  • Define necessary test data to ensure business requirements are accurately tested
  • Lead the development, enhancement, and management of our system data domains which link Global Product Hierarchy products and functions with other systems and operations such as for opportunities, quoting, ordering, and billing.
  • Analysis and resolution of production and UAT defects. Analyze written and verbal problem descriptions, and analyze and coordinate with multiple functional areas to assess source of problem, define solution, communicate to target IT and business groups, and perform or manage the retest efforts.
  • Provide timely management status against key deliverables and timelines
  • Define performance metrics and data objects, ensuring all the key drivers of performance are captured and easily reported against
  • Assist with corporate data governance initiatives to define business objects, data sources, and responsibilities so that Global Product Hierarchy and related data is defined, documented, and used correctly and efficiently across the enterprise
  • Provide value to the enterprise by identifying improvements to finance processes enabling timely, accurate information to be available to management
  • Increase productivity and efficiency by eliminating manual work, identifying and automating reporting and processes; eliminating duplications and any non-value-add work in Finance to provide more timely and accurate information, and to ultimately safeguard enterprise assets.


  1. Supporting role for Global Product Hierarchy (GPH) Management

Assist in managing the Global Product Hierarchy structure, which serves as the backbone of the GL Chart of Accounts, Wireline Planning processes, Profitability Modeling, Compensation Planning & Operations processes, and more.

Contribute / coordinate ongoing Global Product Hierarchy Structure changes including any necessary remapping of various codes (PR1-8, PG4, MRV, CLINs, etc), as well as shift analysis and restatements. Involves coordinating, scheduling, hosting meetings/discussions with required parties for gathering information, resolving conflicts and collecting details when setting up new products, expanding existing product set or revising/moving a currently existing product or set of products. Further involves coordinating approvals from necessary management and organizations, then implementing necessary changes, historical restatements, and performing follow up as necessary.

This includes but is not limited to the following related responsibilities:

  • Oversight and assurance that product structure is sound and aligns with management’s needs
  • Staying tuned with product specific strategies to help drive product hierarchy restructuring necessary to support the changing needs of the business
  • Analyze and assess structural change requests for needed actions and timing implications
  • Ensure completeness and consistency in the use and naming of product tiers that normalizes product definition across all products, but yet allows the necessary specification of product features and services particular to each product set
  • Develop and enhance methods and procedures to support team charters around receiving charge code requests, getting suggested GPH product mapping associated with each charge code, organizing and coordinating the review of same with stakeholders that include Product Marketing and multiple Finance teams, and that provide the necessary auditable documentation for all actions
  • Compile pro forma assessments for management review of the impacts of any proposed changes
  • Communicate impacts to key stakeholders
  • Coordinate historical restatements as required
  • Assistance to gain all necessary approvals
  • Manage and implement product changes and related actions in support systems
  • Publish newsletters to broader business community
  • Provide related support & analysis to the business following implementation


  1. Product Definition – Associating Activities with a Standard Product Model:

Responsible for accurate placement of product activity in the company’s financials, accounting systems, ordering reporting processes, and other reporting functions to ensure “one version of the truth” for product reporting from point of opportunity through ordering, provisioning, billing, booking, profitability analysis, and street reporting.

  • Take part in the development of new products, services, and features in such processes as Product Launch Management (PLM) or Rapid Delivery product set-up to ensure proper treatment of product throughout all financial functions
  • Analyze data components such as product groups, entities, features, specifications, and other identifies from ordering and billing spaces to define key identifiers necessary to accurately associate all events to the Global Product Hierarchy
  • Direct responsibility and oversight of mapping processes that associate each orderable and billable event with a specific product in reporting. This includes mapping required from various systems,  projects, conversions/migrations, acquisitions, Complex Bids/Integrated deals (CBIRT/SMP ), manual billing efforts, and as well from other organizations
  • Coordinate product mappings in governance workflow with other teams that include Product Management, Commissions Operations, and Revenue Accounting. Product mappings are performed not only proactively, but also on-demand with SLAs necessary to meet production cycles
  • Perform multiple tasks as necessary for each product mapping, including but not limited to reviewing contracts, amendments, SOWs, and performing research to ensure that all mappings are accurate at all tiers of the Global Product Hierarchy including the Strategic/Core designations
  • Utilize and have a thorough knowledge of mapping and search/reporting functions in the FinTrans mapping and Global Product Reference Master Data Management tools. This is needed not only for ongoing mapping activities, but also to research issues, audit reporting, etc.
  • Manage the development operational production and UAT environments to ensure that all reference data within our Master Data Management Tools is available at the beginning of each launch for the integrity of all downstream processes such as opportunities, ordering, billing, booking, etc.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to other team members and the broader community around proper set up, mapping, or change of product composition throughout systems
  • Coordinate activities with IT Business Analysts to report, track, and resolve system issues as well as to accomplish manual system support from IT as needed to ensure data integrity and SLAs
  • Perform audits to identify any areas of inconsistency or needed changes to ensure product reporting aligns with management’s vision.
  • Requires job development and continuous improvement to keep abreast of company industry position, acquisitions, future developments/technology and other relevant information.
  • Project management is often required, including coordination with Marketing, Sales, Commission Operations, Billing POCs, and other organizations as necessary; scheduling meetings, hosting discussions, planning and implementing tasks


  1. Ad Hoc Duties


Position also involves additional responsibilities to satisfy special projects, reports, and new initiatives as they arise.  These initiatives will leverage not only subject matter expertise, but also financial and accounting experience and acumen to analyze and interpret data and provide reports and recommendations. Some of these are outlined below.


  • Perform diverse types of ad-hoc analysis depending on the business need, demonstrating subject matter expertise and familiarity with a broad variety of data sources from various toolsets to analyze data, provide recommendations, and deliver presentations
  • Field issue escalations from internal customers or delivery partners and respond to customer inquiries. These include working Sales tickets related to compensation questions/concerns, as well as providing support to the broader business community reliant upon the Global Product Hierarchy and other FP&A tools and data.
  • Field questions from management and other organizations related to how revenue is booked to product, how sales are tracked, how billed data relates to booked revenue, etc.
  • Position could involve budgeting, forecasting, and analysis, as well as value added support to various finance processes, and other duties as required.
  • Develop and document guidelines and procedures, ensures adequate controls are in place while ensuring compliance and adherence with controls in keeping with internal policies and external guidelines, and also assists in establishing required linkages to the other organizations as required.


  1. General
  • Work independently and in a team environment performing at very high levels to ensure deliverables are completed and deadlines are met and continually and effectively balancing many competing priorities.
  • Plan and structure work activities and set deadlines, managing multiple and diverse deliverables with full accountability. Subsequently monitors progress on tasks and is responsible for the results.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures in accordance with overall corporate policies and procedures.



  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or equivalent experience required
  • Master's in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or equivalent preferred
  • Professional certification (e.g. CPA, CMA, CFA) a plus
  • 6+ years financial analysis experience required
  • Extensive analytical experience, compiling compare/contrast analysis, impact assessments, and research analytics skills that can be applied across many projects required
  • Must be a motivated and dynamic self-starter with great drive and initiative
  • Experienced in the design and implementation of financial reporting systems and analytical applications preferred
  • Working knowledge of database constructs, Master Data Management and principles of managing data objects and hierarchical relationships preferred
  • General knowledge of Verizon’s Accounting, Tax and Commission Policies and requirements as they relate to the product dimension in reporting preferred
  • Strong background in system transformations, integrations and migrations preferred
  • Experience writing business requirements, and participating in system requirements, analysis and design and ongoing production maintenance development preferred
  • Background in performing or overseeing User Acceptance Testing preferred
  • Strong project management skills, as well as expertise acting in a liaison capacity between organizations
  • Advanced understanding of report query and design
  • In depth knowledge of accounting and finance systems and applications
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint; proficient with Outlook, Access and Word
  • Experience with Visio, project management tools, and internal Quality Center a plus
  • Extensive experience with Hyperion ODS and Analytics Business Intelligence (BI) functionality and capabilities preferred
  • Must exhibit very strong communication, presentation and negotiation skills, both written and verbal
