Responsibilities

The Principal Security Design Architect is the reference person for all network design and architectural related aspects of our security monitoring services (MSS). She/he is the spear-point of network design and architectural competence within the VCIC organization.  This person will help pre-sales with customer deals with the main goal to have the best possible security monitoring design.  Next to that he/she will need to be constantly looking out for new architectural and design enhancements that will aid the overall security monitoring effectiveness and efficiency.

As an active member of the MSS Security Design and Architecture group he/she needs to possess the necessary skills to work flawlessly in a team together with other architects all over the world in combination with outstanding technical qualities.

She/he is innovative towards optimizing and standardizing the MSS customer network architecture and always attentively and in complete support of the MSS Delivery teams.

She/he is part of the design and architecture authority team for MSS. 

Important responsibilities include interaction with both internal groups like the Security Sales Engineers, the Security Subject Matter Experts and the Security Product Management team but also with external groups like 3rd party providers (MSSPs, ISPs, …) and our end customers.  The goal is to find the best design that MSS can support.  All the Architecture and Design documentation that MSS provides to Sales falls under this team’s responsibility.  Another day to day task is the pre-sale validation approval that has to occur before each deal goes into the ordering system.

More strategically she/he needs to help Product Management with the design and implementation of new premise-based and cloud offerings/services, investigating new products and services while demonstrating the company’s technical competence.

 This person is an active member of the Product advisory board which decides what products and services will be added to the MSS portfolio.  Constantly looking out for new architectural and design enhancements that will aid the overall MSS operation efficiency.

Other responsibilities include assisting Sales in drafting RFP responses and establishing a library of standard RFP answers when it comes to MSS architectures and designs.



Qualifications
  • Master or Bachelor degree in Information Security and/ or relevant work experience with security designs and architecture.
  • Must have experience with designing and deploying MSS services and with existing MSS customer implementations.
  • Must have experience with various network and network security technologies from different vendors like Cisco, Checkpoint, Juniper, Palo Alto, Fortinet and F5.
  • Must have an extended knowledge and strong experience in networking with all its aspects like switching, routing, NAT, packet filtering and so forth.
  • Must have a lot of experience in network security concepts like packet inspection. Basically be aware of all security technologies that can be implemented from the network to the application layer and have experience implementing them.
  • Is interested in following all security market trends and new technologies.
  • Is willing to continuously learn no technologies and advance professionally.
  • Can write solid documentation
  • Likes to work in a global team and is willing to travel abroad occasionally.
  • Is committed to retain and improve our market leadership by working with product management and strategy teams.
  • Strong ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must have the necessary communications and interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively with peers, management, staff, and internal/external business partners/clients.
