Leadership Curriculum Manager


Job Description 


Job Summary:

As part of Verizon’s award winning learning organization, the Leadership Curriculum Manager plays an essential role in creating innovative, world class learning experiences.  The Leadership Curriculum Manager is responsible for supporting the design, development and implementation of management and leadership development programs and tools for a global employee population.  The purpose of Verizon’s leadership development programs within the Verizon Leadership University (VZLU) is to build and sustain Verizon’s winning culture, improve critical leadership capabilities to grow bench strength, and to deliver simple, relevant, learning solutions that drive growth and value.


This role leads a team responsible for the entire architect of a global leadership curriculum for individual contributors and entry level through mid-level managers aligned with Verizon’s leadership capabilities model, executive education and top talent programs, and talent and performance management practices. The role manages a team that handles course design, development and maintenance, implementation of new programs, design of training reinforcement, as well as evaluation and measurement for business impact and ROI.  This role also manages ad hoc requests for leadership development training plans and customized programs.




  • Oversight and development of curriculum and content for global leadership and management programs
  • Utilize classroom, virtual, and online learning methods and blended learning where appropriate
  • Handle all aspects of new program implementation and maintenance including development and support for train-the-trainer sessions and development of course materials
  • Identify and create curriculum for new hire/new-to-role programs, rotational college hire programs and other specific employee populations
  • Design training measurement plans and works with team to conduct Levels 1-5 course evaluation
  • Collaborate with business partners to identify needs and address learning opportunities
  • Conduct benchmarking  and online research to identify best-in-class approaches to leadership development, and identify potential new programs and vendor partners
  • Manage special projects associated with policy updates impacting training and completing journal/magazine submissions.
  • Identify external partners for training content and delivery; handles creation of statements of work and negotiation of terms of agreement
  • Manage team’s budget
  • Identify and implement next practices and opportunities to leverage technology and other innovative learning practices




Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent job experience
  • Minimum 8 years of experience with curriculum design and course development of management/leadership development programs
  • Experience leading a team
  • Experience with training program evaluation and ROI analyses


Additional Qualifications:   

  • Experience with designing and/or coordinating e-learning and virtual training
  • Project management skills working with cross-functional teams, SMEs, and stakeholders to create learning opportunities
  • Highly effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively function in a fast-paced environment with multiple strategic projects
  •  Highly collaborative and ability to influence and manage both within and across teams
