 This position is for Basking Ridge, NJ or Palo Alto, CA

This position requires highly motivated individual with solid technical and leadership capabilities to work within the Device Evolution organization. They will be responsible for driving device requirements and test plans as well as leading product launches. The individual will report to a Manager and interface extensively with OEMs and cross functional groups within the company.

Responsibilities for this position include:

  • Verizon Technical Lead to Ensure Device Requirements are adhered to
  • Ability to understand device requirements in order to speak to OEMs while making sure that they meet requirements
  • Coordinate and track open items from Feature Lock down
  • Evaluate impacts to the business when OEMs are not compliant with features
  • Interface with different parts of the business including network teams, marketing organizations, standards teams to manage test device software upgrades.
  • Evaluate device vendor’s compliance to device requirements and test plans for new software upgrades.
  • Help test new device software upgrades and post process device log data as needed.
  • Manage/coordinate lab and field testing activities that the Device Technology team participates in with varied complexity and challenges. Test coordination includes collaboration with Internal Verizon Wireless local teams as well as device vendors and Technology Partners.
  • Create and Develop test plans related to platform
  • Run test plans in the lab as well as field both individually and by directing the efforts of other individuals and teams
  • Proactively look for opportunities to improve and update test processes
  • Analyze log files and provide feedback and recommendations.
  • Interface with local Verizon engineers and provide capability for network logging/debug sessions if necessary.
  • Filter and propagate reported issues to appropriate internal contact and OEMs
  • Carry out sanity testing of new test device software as needed.
  • Support other teams with device setup and troubleshooting of data collection tools including hardware and software.
  • Verizon Technical Lead to interface with OEMs
    • Negotiate with OEMs and advocate for the interests of Verizon
    • Drive features and priorities of the company into the platforms
    • Close open action items and drive items to completion with initiative and focu
  • Technical project management lead on projects (including feature development) that are critical to device launches
    • Exhibit project management skills and the ability to run a core team driving milestones, action items, protecting scope and ensuring time to market
    • Strong communication skills to interface with various cross functional groups and the ability to formulate executive readouts so that all internal parties are kept in the loop and expectations are managed
    • Proven track record to produce results

This position may require moderate domestic travel


4 to 6 years of wireless communication technologies and device experience combined is ideal.
Excellent mobile telecommunications industry knowledge, including experience with handset manufacturers, network equipment vendors, and/or mobile operators; experience with 3GPP and/or 3GPP2 wireless technologies, understanding of the physical and signaling layers, especially LTE, EVDO and CDMA.
Must have experience analyzing device logs. Understanding of VoLTE (VoIP)/IMS/RCS  and SIP highly desirable.  Project management and communication skills is a must

  • 2- 3 years of experience with 3GPP and 3GPP2 3G and 4G protocols,  LTE, WiMax
  • VoLTE, IMS, SIP or RCS experience
  • 2+  years of experience in wireless device operation and testing, either in the field or lab environments
  • 2-3 years of data analysis and optimization experience including recommending network changes, device parameter changes or data collection setup changes.
  • 2-3 years of Device data collection and post-processing software, e.g. QXDM, QCAT, Accuver XCAL or XCAP or other equivalent software packages.
  • 2+ years experience writing technical documentation, preferably test plans/ requirements/ specifications.
  • Must have minimum 3 years experience with Microsoft Office suite skills.
  • In-depth understanding of Verizon Wireless business processes and the OEM ecosystem
  • Ability to collaborate with and lead cross functional teams; leadership potential
  • Technical leadership and excellent troubleshooting skills.

  • No telecommuting. Will be working in a lab environment/ location in the field or office.
