The Verizon Supply Chain Quality Management is looking for a self-driven individual to perform Reliability Testing and Reliability Analysis of FiOS products- Set Top Boxes (STB), Optical Network Terminal (ONT), Routers (BHR) to drive quality & reliability improvements. The individual interfaces extensively with many functions within the Verizon wire line business and 3rd party OEMs, repair centers.

Based on reliability analysis this role will ultimately be a key stakeholder who provides recommendation for design changes required prior to new product launches and improvement for current products. Review of field failure trends and defects that are substantial and deemed to negatively impact customer experience of Verizon brands to identify reliability gaps & design improvement requirement. Additional review of Quality Metrics, contract specifications and other information to audit OEM and Contract Manufacturers as necessary to improve product quality.

The person shall have the strong ability to positively impact Supply Chain Field Product Reliability and significantly improve OEM product quality.

The candidate is expected to:

  • Establish and promote the Product Reliability importance within Verizon & OEM
  • Lead role in designing and managing the Reliability Data Policy and associated procedures under guidance from Supply Chain Quality Management (SCQM) comprising: to lead the publication of the Reliability Policy within the FiOS product lines.
  • Be the owner in establishing of a Reliability Lab in support of wireline business needs – determine equipment & process requirement to perform ALT, HALT, HASS type testing.
  • Professionally & systematically define, design, develop, monitor and refine product reliability plan that includes effective utilization of predictive and other non-destructive testing methodologies to isolate inherent reliability problems.
  • Drive, review, and publication of reliability data collection processes within the SCQM, and establish a global resource competent to undertake reliability data collection in accordance with the documented processes
  • Establish Quality and Reliability Data Requirement in the contractual document with OEM & Contract Manufacturing
  • Support Product Engineering & review of OEM Design documents in establishing the predicted reliability characteristics- Derating Analysis, Predicted MTBF, Life Limiting Analysis of complex electronics & fiber products
  • Lead the introduction, review, publication, and support of the Field or Internal Customer Enquiry Response processes for reliability data
  • Provide input to a risk management plan that will anticipate reliability-related risks on product launch.
  • Be able to utilize statistical data analysis techniques that includes:
  • Statistical process control
  • Reliability Modelling & Prediction
  • Fault Tree Analysis
  • Weibull Analysis


Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:   

  • Ideally an experienced control systems engineer, with understanding of telecommunication products, and of the basis of system engineering, electronic module design, and electronic assembly manufacturing
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Acts on own initiative to document reliability domain expertise, and identify how better to support Verizon FiOS product lines

Education:  Bachelor of Science in Electronics/Electrical Engineering, Master’s Degree a Plus

Experience: 5-7 years in Reliability Engineering related fields
