Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Architect solutions for business requirements involving advanced networks (performance & management), VoIP and converged technologies.
  • IT system/architecture requirements (including development of fault and performance management policies and automation rules)
  • Based on certification scope, will be responsible for:
    • Configuration definition of hardware and software. Lab device/design identification and configuration
    • Development of fault and performance management policies
    • Test case and procedure documentation. User acceptance test case development and testing, product documentation and training for Operational Readiness of the Operations teams.
    • Testing
    • Working with Verizon teams and vendors to drive issue resolution
    • Operational/day 2 support documentation
  • Support standard and custom product development initiatives and network management device and application certifications for Managed Services solutions and customers.
  • Create and support delivery documentation
  • Provide technical and training for the Managed Services Operations teams.
  • Interface and interact with customers on a semi-regular basis.
  • Work closely with Product Development, Engineering/Planning, IT, various Verizon delivery and support teams and third party vendors.


Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • BS or BA in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years in experience in a solution-oriented technical design and engineering role, with an emphasis on advanced networks, VoIP and convergence solutions.
    • Data and IP Services (MPLS, VoIP, VPN, IP PBX)
    • Managed Network Services (LAN, WAN, WLAN, Managed IP PBX)
    • Unified Communications (Messaging, Video, Telepresence)
  • Architecture experience to include solution conceptualization, definition and development with a focus on revenue generation and assurance.  
  • Ability to create and review technical documentation (RFIs, RFPs, SOWs, SLAs, BOMs…)
  • Strong knowledge of overall network technology experience with fundamental understanding of WAN, LAN, Wireless and Optimization services
  • Requires knowledge of network management technologies, devices, and applications across multiple vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, Riverbed and/or Aruba
  • Working knowledge of network and performance management platform tools such as:
    • EMC Smarts
    • CA eHealth
    • NetIQ
    • SCOM
  • Strong documentation skills using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Project and Visio
  • Current and valid industry certifications in one or more of the following:
    • Cisco
    • Juniper
    • SIP
    • Avaya, Microsoft, Tandberg, Polycom
    • TOGAF
    • ITIL
  • Ability to present both technical and non-technical information to broad audiences
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively work in a team environment and explain complex technical concepts to varying levels of technical audiences.
  • Effective written communication skills.
