Responsibilities

The Associate Technician - Systems is responsible for assisting with the advance installation, operation, and maintenance of regional 4G data network elements, ensuring network integrity and quality service. These networks elements include, but are not limited to Alcatel-Lucent Routers, Multilayer Switches, MSPP, Ethernet Backhaul, and 4G Base Station Control Equipment. This entry-level position will learn and apply their new technical skills to support interdepartmental objectives including: troubleshooting, upgrading, and administering multiple vendor systems; maintaining system applications; and ensuring quality customer service. Other responsibilities include: providing support to a varied-user community; updating daily logs with site-specific information; and composing clear and concise reports for system documentation. The Associate Technician-Systems will be trained to perform his/her duties with minimum supervision while participating in cross-functional projects.

 

Troubleshoots, upgrades, and administers Routers, Multilayer Switches and Multiple Vendor Systems.

 

Learn to technically lead during troubleshooting events.

 

Maintains, installs, operates, administers, and performs advanced maintenance of the regional 4G data network elements.

 

Manage building support systems which includes but is not limited to BAS (Building Automated System), HVAC, AC/DC Power and Generators.

 

Updates daily logs with site-specific information and composes clear and concise reports for system documentation.

 

Monitor and install application patches and perform platform upgrades. Review alarms and log files to identify, report, resolve problems in a timely manner to ensure stability and performance.

 

Learn to execute Methods of Procedures (MOPs) following technical standards/guidelines minimizing adverse effects to the live network.

 

Utilize network monitoring software tools for troubleshooting, administering, monitoring during maintenance window to ensure that all network equipment is functioning in accordance with company standards and policies, before, during, and after changes are made.

 

Work effectively both as an individual and as a team member to create successful solutions. Be a self-starter and have the ability to work independently. Participate in on-call rotation. Perform late night/early morning system changes. Work in fast paced and highly visible environment.



Qualifications

Minimum 4-yr technical degree. Certifications such as CCENT, CCNA or CCNP are preferred.

Minimum 2-3 years experience in data communications.

Demonstrated knowledge of data networking protocols including TCP/IP, OSI, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, BFD, SIP and other LAN/WAN protocols is required. Experience in at least 2 of the following areas: data communications, digital communications, operating systems and applications.

Knowledge of Network Devices: Cisco IP & MPLS Routers (CRS1, 12K, 10K), Cisco Switches, and Network Management Systems.

Knowledge of VZW Services: MSC, 1XRTT, EVDO, 4G-LTE, IMS core

Knowledge of monitoring equipment: Ehealth, Cisco ANA, HP Openview, NetScout, RTT, and Brix.

Knowledge of transmission facilities: Gig-E, SONET, Transport Circuits

Ability to successfully handle multiple priorities simultaneously is required.

Demonstrated telephone communications and interpersonal skills are required.

Experience with Windows and Microsoft Office applications is required.

Ability to work in a 24X7 environment is required.
