Senior Designer position is needed to support FiOS IPTV product by being the primary designer for the 2.0 user experience which will include collaboration with peers, direction to direct reports, and working cross-functionally with product managers and technology partners.

This position will spend a majority of their time preparing high-quality design comps, and working with the existing designers on implementing concepts as laid out in wires and flows. This senior designer will also be responsible for maintaining and creating styles and rules for the 2.0 user experience. This position also requires someone with an extensive history of designing user experiences and not just merely designing graphics.

The candidate must be able to analyze complex scenarios and distill from them a reasonable, user-centric solution for interfacing with a TV or other 10-foot interface. They must also be able to collaborate with others in determining the final outcome, so group discussions are always recommended and highly encouraged. Knowledge of the limitations inherent in the underlying technology is a must. However, this must not prejudice the candidate from thinking of other solutions that may currently reside outside the realm of existing platform capabilities.

The business has required that henceforth the remote control will no longer use a dedicated number pad. This candidate must then design and propose a solution where the user can first instantiate some kind of on-screen control to either search for a channel by name, or to peruse some kind of indexed listing of all channels. All of these things must be done without breaking the fundamental rules of D-Pad/10-foot interaction.

The business has decided profiles have to be supported on all TV interfaces for individual users. The candidate must be able to determine the appropriate range of profile functionality as it pertains to a TV UI, and then determine how and when to parse the data according to walls of a profile set up. Profile switching on a common device, such as a TV, also need to be discussed and designed.

Day to day decision making regarding designs will be left up to the candidate provided they respect the overall direction as set by the creative director. This position requires the candidate to make informed decisions on their own regarding how to implement certain concepts, or to propose new ones in order to complete the objective.

A junior designer is working on a comp for a new screen, and while it may have fulfilled all of the necessary functional requirements, it is not aesthetically on par with the rest of the UI. This candidate will have the authority to revise and work with the junior designer in finding a better solution until finished.

This candidate must work with the creative director in expanding the overall design vocabulary, and once that common vision has been agreed upon, can implement it in a variety of different situations as spelled out in the requirements.

The candidate will work the other junior designers in implementing the UI and maintaining a consistent user experience across all screens. They will report to the creative director/team lead on what their day-to-day directions are. This candidate must have an extensive background in UI/UX design, with a large focus on user interactions. Previous experience designing for a TV UI is not a must, but is highly recommended. They must also have advanced knowledge of Adobe Illustrator.
