The primary purpose of this position is to proactively provide support for overall network performance with emphasis on using primarily drive test data correlated with data from a wide variety of other sources (i.e., such as propagation tools, OSS, switch stats, etc.) as necessary to perform trending and root cause analysis and indentify areas for improvement and a course of action.   Provide direction to others in the collection of baseline data; post processing data; generating plots and reports utilizing a standardized company reporting tool; and analyzing internal drive data. Oversight in ensuring all test equipment is functional and calibrated on periodic basis, as well as making recommendations on future equipment configurations.  Additional responsibilities include providing guidance and direction to Engineers II and I and to technicians. 

  • Evaluation of Service Performance trends using system or drive data
  • Isolation of root causes and impacted services, features and markets
  • VoLTE testing with understanding and analyses of relevant KPIs
  • Coordinate technical investigations and testing with appropriate regional, area and HQ functions
  • Mentor others in workgroup by providing technical analysis, troubleshooting, and training assistance.
  • Trending and analysis of VzW and competitor networks, to include the ability to identify both positive and negative trends and determine solutions to correct negative trends.
  • Develop test methodologies for benchmark and/or acceptance testing.
  • Analyze drive test data.  Generate competitive analyses. 
  • Takes ownership of issues and drives them to resolution
  • Conduct and/or direct others in drive testing and analysis of drive data. 
  • Is self-motivated and efficient with minimal supervision
  • Works well with colleagues and with various departments (Area and HQ Network, Network Operations, Network Engineering, Maintenance Engineering) and vendors to implement changes and troubleshoot
  • Ability to work flexible hours is required
  • Ability to work in a team environment is required.
  • Expect 25% to 50% travel, mostly within the region.



  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering (or degree with a similar rigor) with a minimum of 4 years of wireless experience in a System Performance context-and-knowledge of LTE including VoLTE and RAN Networks
  • Knowledge of IP and transport protocols
  • Strong statistical and analytical abilities
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of RF propagation.
  • Working knowledge of at least one data collection tool such as TEMS, Ascom, etc.
  • Working knowledge of data analysis/post-processing tools such as Windcatcher/Actix/TEMS Discovery
  • Knowledge of Ericsson-ALU systems including OSS preferred
  • Knowledge of 3GPP LTE standards preferred
  • Ability to understand, compile, evaluate, and present complex data and solutions
  • Ability to differentiate and diagnose RAN and CORE related problems; understanding of Systems Engineering aspects related to RAN & proficiency in Core level call flow analysis. IMS understanding is a plus
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as, Unix, scripting tools.
  • Knowledge of Excel, to include writing macros, graphing and statistical analysis.
  • Knowledge of mapping software such as MapInfo, ArcGIS, Topo
  • Must have strong work ethic, integrity and work extremely well in a team
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
