Home Control

As of June 20, 2015, Verizon Online will no longer provide Home Monitoring and Control service. Please read these Frequently Asked Questions about Home Monitoring and Control service for more information

  1. When will Verizon Online stop offering Home Monitoring and Control service?
    The service will end on June 20, 2015.


  2. Can I continue my Home Monitoring and Control service with another provider?
    Yes. Verizon Online has made arrangements with Nexia Home Intelligence - an Ingersoll Rand company and an expert in the home intelligence business - to provide a migration to Nexia service at the same subscription price as you had with the Home Monitoring and Control service. For those who elect to migrate to the Nexia service, Nexia will provide a replacement controller at no charge. Most Home Monitoring and Control customers' devices, including cameras, will be able to migrate to the Nexia service. You are also able to use your devices (with the exception of your cameras) with most other providers that support Z-Wave technology. (Note that the Remote Control, Whole Home Energy Reader and Energy Reading functions on the Appliance Switch are not currently supported by Nexia).   3. Where can I find out more information about Nexia Home Intelligence?
    If you would like to find out more information about Nexia, please visit their web site at nexiahome.com/verizon.


  4. If I decide to migrate my service to Nexia Home Intelligence, how do I do so?
    To begin the transition process to Nexia Home Intelligence, please visit nexiahome.com/verizon. Full instructions, including a link to an app that will update your camera firmware, are available on that page.


  5. If I decide to cancel the service entirely, must I call Verizon to cancel?
    No. If you take no action, your Home Monitoring and Control service will end on June 20, 2015 and you will be billed through that date.


  6. What if I want to cancel service prior to June 20, 2015?
    Simply call 1-800-Verizon, select Option 4 and follow subsequent prompts. A representative will assist you with the termination of your Home Monitoring and Control subscription.


  7. I missed the June 20 end date for migration of my service to Nexia Home Intelligence. Is there anything I can do to move my devices to a new Nexia subscription?
    Yes, please call the Nexia Customer Care Center at 1-877-288-7707. They will be happy to provide details and guidance in setting up your new Nexia account.


  8. If I cancel my Home Monitoring and Control service, do I have to return my equipment?
    No. All Home Monitoring and Control equipment is yours to keep; there is no need to return it.


  9. If I elect not to keep my equipment, how should I dispose of it?
    If you elect not to migrate your equipment to another service, please consider properly recycling your devices at a local facility. Visit 1800recycling.com to find recycling centers in your area.


  10. I have additional questions about the discontinuation of my Home Monitoring and Control service. Where should I call?
    If you have questions regarding this change, please call us at 1.800.VERIZON, select option 1, and follow subsequent prompts. We will be happy to answer your questions.


  11. I have camera recordings stored within the Home Monitoring and Control service. Can I download these to store locally?
    Verizon is not responsible for the maintenance of your video recordings and does not support download of these files to any other data storage media or device.


  12. Can I transfer the modes I have defined for the Home Monitoring and Control service to the Nexia Home Intelligence service?
    Modes do not transfer from the HMC service to the Nexia service. You can define and enable new automation scripts within the Nexia Home Intelligence service.


  13. I disconnected my Home Monitoring and Control service some time ago. I still have my Home Monitoring and Control devices. Can I use these with another provider and/or with Nexia Home Intelligence?
    Regardless of whether you are an active Home Monitoring and Control subscriber at this time, most of your Home Monitoring and Control devices will work with other service providers, such as Nexia Home Intelligence, and with other Z-Wave compatible in-home controllers.


  14. I have the Home Control app on my smartphone or tablet. What should I do with it?
    After the Home Monitoring and Control service is retired on June 20, 2015, the iOS and Android apps will be obsolete. You can simply delete them from your mobile device(s).


  15. I don't want to replace my thermostats after the Home Monitoring and Control service is retired. Can I use them without the service?
    Nexia Home Intelligence will support remote access to this thermostat in their web and mobile applications. If you elect not to use Nexia, there is no need to replace your thermostat. The thermostat will operate like any other programmable thermostat. You will lose remote access to the thermostat via the web, smartphone app, and FiOS TV Widget when the Home Monitoring and Control service has been retired. Otherwise, the thermostat will operate from the buttons on its front panel.


  16. I don't want to replace my door locks after the Home Monitoring and Control service is retired. Can I use them without the service?
    Nexia Home Intelligence will support remote access to your Z-wave locks in their web and mobile applications. If you elect not to use Nexia, there is no need to replace your locks. The dead bolt and lever door locks will continue to operate like any other keypad locks. You will lose remote access via the web, smartphone app, and FiOS TV Widget when the Home Monitoring and Control service has been retired. Otherwise the door locks will operate with a key or from the buttons on its front panel.


  17. Can I give my Home Monitoring and Control devices to a friend or family member? Will they operate on a new provider's service?
    You are free to give your devices to anyone you wish. The devices are not related to a particular person and should operate on most compatible providers' services and/or with most compatible third-party controllers. Note, however, that the Home Monitoring and Control cameras can only be migrated to, and used with, the Nexia Home Intelligence service.
