Dial-Up Internet

Before you begin, verify that your computer meets the system requirements for Verizon Online Dial-up software.

During installation, Microsoft® Internet Explorer and Outlook Express are configured with your Verizon Online account settings. As soon as you complete the steps below, you can browse the Internet and send and receive email.

To install on Windows®:

  1. Close or exit all software programs.
  2. Insert the Verizon Online CD into the CD drive in your computer.
  3. If the installation program does not start automatically, click the Start button and select Run. In the Run window, type d:\setup.exe and press [Enter]. After a few seconds, the Welcome screen opens.

    Note: If "d" isn't the letter that represents your CD drive, substitute the appropriate letter.

  4. Select Install to begin installing Verizon Online. Read the information that appears on each installation screen, then click Next to move on. To get more information about any step in the installation process, click Help.
  5. After completing the software installation, the account setup phase begins. Read the information that appears on each account setup screen, make your selections, then click Next to move to the next step.
  6. Click Finish on the final account setup screen. Your Internet access is set up and you are ready to connect to the Internet.
To install on Macintosh®:
  1. Close or exit all software programs.
  2. Insert the Verizon Online CD into the CD drive in your computer.
  3. Double-click the Verizon Online installer icon on the desktop.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions as you proceed through the installation process.
  5. After completing the software installation, the account setup phase begins. Enter your Activation Code, your billing information, and make your selections when prompted.
  6. Click Finish on the final account setup screen. Your Internet access is set up and you are ready to connect to the Internet.
