How can I change the WEP encryption key of my Actiontec GT704WG home network? To improve the security of your home network, you should change your home network's WEP encryption key regularly.

To change your security settings:

Note: The configuration screens may vary slightly depending on when you purchased your gateway and the version of firmware running on it.

  1. Open a Web browser like Internet Explorer or Firefox.


  2. Enter http://192.168.1.1 in the Address field of the browser. [Show Me]


  3. Enter your current user name and password. If you didn't change the user name and password during installation, enter admin in the User Name field and leave the Password field blank.

  1. Click OK.


  2. Depending on when you purchased your Actiontec gateway, there are two versions of the configuration utility. Select the graphic below that shows the version of the utility displayed by your gateway.
