Verizon Wireless (VzW) is partnering with cable companies including Comcast, Time Warner Cable, and Cox to create joint products at the intersection of consumers’ digital lives at home and on the go. As smart phones and tablets join TVs and PCs as the 4 primary screens for many consumers, the partners believe we can deliver unique solutions that meet our joint customers’ desire for mobility, communications, social connectedness, entertainment and more. In doing so, we expect to add and retain more customers and revenues. The Product Planning team in the Converged Solutions organization will innovate, plan and develop these joint products. Working with other groups in Converged Solutions, in VzW and with the cable companies, Product Planning is charged with conceiving product concepts that deliver a differentiated experience for the always-connected mobile lifestyle. The partners seek products that give consumers a compelling reason to add or continue service with the VzW and partner companies. Product offerings can range from modifications to existing VzW and cable products that lead to dramatic improvements in customer experiences, to new solutions that customers will crave but can’t yet imagine. The Product Planning Manager will be responsible for identifying product concepts, defining and evaluating those concepts that lead to senior management approval. The Product Planning Manager will work closely with many constituents inside and outside VzW. Internally, the Product Planning Manager will work with CS Business Development, CS Product Design, CS Product Development, VzW Product Development, Engineering, IT, Device Marketing, etc. Externally, the Product Planning Manager will team with counterparts at the cable partners, potential vendors and solution providers. The Product Planning Manager will likely have relevant technical background (educational and/or work experience), possess strong analytical, communications, writing, and interpersonal skills. S/he will have product S/he will produce business requirements, product requirements, economic cases and other materials that will be used in making go/no go decisions. Experience: •7+ years experience in product planning, product development or product management in relevant industries or consulting. Relevant industry includes telecommunications, media technologies, consumer electronics, and mobile applications. •Demonstrated track record in product innovation, planning or development. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: •Ability and desire to innovate and envision unmet or unexpressed consumer needs and pain points. •Technical understanding of mobile and/or fixed broadband networks, mobile platforms, consumer electronics devices, entertainment infrastructure and applications •Clear writing and oral communication skills. Must be able to express ideas, issues, and solutions to engineering, IT, marketing and financial communities using Powerpoint, Word, and Excel. •Winning interpersonal skills – able to work collaboratively across functional groups and across companies. Education: Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or MBA a plus
