The Managed Security Services (MSS) Tier 3 Network Security Engineer is responsible for service design, service transition, problem management and continual service improvement for our most critical customers and most difficult issues.  This engineer is a highly skilled security professional who possesses experience in configuration, documentation and troubleshooting with a wide variety of security infrastructure devices.  The engineer is able to work autonomously and is able to grasp the impact of his or her work on existing and planned infrastructure.  They are the technical authority figures and are looked to by other security professionals in the company for support.  The Tier 3 Network Security Engineer works with other teams to construct innovative solutions to unique security problems.  They are involved in training the operations teams on their specific areas of expertise.  The Tier 3 Network Security Engineer takes technical ownership of customers and products.  The Tier 3 engineer is the escalation point for SOC issues and tickets which are challenging and carry a high level of customer visibility or impact.


Minimum Qualifications:

The position requires an engineer with an expert level understanding of the security products we manage and of the operational support systems which allow us to deliver our service to our clients. The position also requires a motivated and customer focused engineer who can solve problems and work with the clients as a subject matter experts.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher preferred
  • At least 4 years of dedicated security engineering experience
  • Expert level security product skills in 3 or more of following technologies:
    • Juniper Firewall, UTM, SSL VPN, NAC
    • McAfee IDPS
    • F5 LTM
    • Cisco Ironport
    • Vericept DLP
    • InfoBlox DNS, DHCP
    • NetWitness network traffic analyzer
    • Qualys vulnerability scanner
  • Working knowledge of the following security products considered a plus:
    • ArcSight SIEM
    • McAfee Endpoint Security
  • Strong Linux skills including
    • System Administration
    • Shell scripting
    • Perl or Database programming
  • Strong Network skills including
    • Network Administration
    • Network Design
    • Advanced Routing
    • Cloud technologies

Additional Qualifications:

The Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certification is a departmental development benchmark. All Tier 2 and Tier 3 engineers are required to obtain an ITIL Foundation certification within one year of their start date. Any additional product or industry certification is considered a plus for incoming candidates.
