The primary responsibility for this position is to provide support related to the overall governance of PeopleSoft HRMS, and Payroll data as well as Time Reporting data that interface into Payroll. Overall accountability includes understanding the table structure and logic to produce valid reports based on business requirements including Legal and Labor inquiries. This position must maintain a working knowledge of the data to ensure accuracy of the data reported both for Payroll calculation purposes, stakeholder or other departments and external agencies that may request data (i.e. Labor, Legal, HR, Finance, state or country agencies). This position will support and rotate assignments within the Production Processing function.

 Specific Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates the ability to create accurate, succinct, informative and complete ad-hoc reporting as requested adhering to service level objectives defined.
  • Provides input to develop reporting standards with consistent inputs
  • Responsible for validating and or clarifying report request to ensure accurate results are provided.
  • Must be knowledge on historical data and how to join tables to produce the right results.
  • Exhibits an understanding of relational databases, in order to create queries and reports.
  • Produces accurate and effective information using queries and reporting tools (e.g., minimal table joins and conditional clauses needed).
  • Demonstrates a basic understanding of relevant specific applications and processing tools.
  • Supports compliance with internal policies and controls (e.g., Security, Disaster Recovery, Sarbanes Oxley and local entity or country compliance).
  • Referenced as subject matter expert for data related to or utilized with the payroll process.
  • Responsible for maintaining data dictionary to be referenced and utilized by Payroll and or stakeholders.
  • Responsible for testing any new or changed functionality within their area of responsibility, includes defining test scenarios, test scripts and reviewing to ensure proper results are obtained.
  • Serve as Payroll SME for operational projects impacting data
  • Responsible for staying current on enhancements or upgrades implemented by the primary payroll or time reporting systems utilized. This includes enhancements or changes applied to the operational feeders supported.
  • Focuses on implementing standardized and simplified processes
  • Supports internal and external audit compliance.
  • Seeks out continuous process efficiencies or improvements

 General Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates a fundamental understanding of payroll processing operations and key performance indicators that drive the business.
  • Demonstrates a basic understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and basic understanding of organizational industry standards specific internal control concepts and principles.
  • Demonstrates a basic understanding of relevant specific applications and processing tools.
  • Responsible for maintaining good working relationship with stakeholder groups, and understanding of their strategic initiatives and goals. Work with Payroll management to help drive standardization where applicable.
  • Provides assistance in developing process documentation
  • Provide support to Payroll Operations team as required

  • Preferred BA/BS in Computer Science, IT, Finance, HR or equivalent work experience.
  • Professional certification or experience preferred in Data Governance, PS or Time Tables, examples; PeopleSoft Global Payroll, Time Reporting Applications, Time Feeders, Vendor solutions in these disciplines.
  • 1-2 years of direct report writing, generation
  • 1+ years of direct payroll data processing experience, troubleshooting, implementation (prefer Global experience including domestic and international)
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Advanced knowledge of report query and design, Cognos
  • Knowledge of Payroll, Time and Labor systems and the associated data.
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong Customer Service skills (both oral and written).
  • Finance Operations experience desirable, preferably Payroll.
  • Good organizational, time management and communication skills.
  • General understanding of required compliance with legal, regulatory, and financial requirements governing functional tasks and activities.
  • Ability to multi task, support day to day activities while managing projects and inquiries from stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially in Excel; effective written and oral communications skills
  • Possess knowledge of payroll practices, policies and procedures
  • Flexible scheduling to meet processing demands, as required
  • Results oriented, strong sense of urgency, proactive
  • Strong quantitative, organizational skills
  • Possesses strong communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Ability to communicate to Supervisor and Manager levels
