Position Responsibilities:

  • Performs monthly and quarterly audits on mass markets bankruptcy processing, as per audit plan
  • Works with internal and outside counsel to investigate preference actions and stay violations; prepares all necessary documentation
  • Works with internal and outside counsel to determine deposits, adequate assurance and cures
  • Ensures proper calculation of pre petition amounts due, and proper handling of these receivables
  • Prepares required Proofs of Claims needed to be filed in the Bankruptcy Courts
  • Works directly with bankruptcy customers to reconcile pre petition balances and post petition payments and balances
  • Performs monthly or quarterly reconciliations of customer charges and payments as ordered by the courts
  • Prepares monthly remit advice for application of payments for those customers who are required to pay in advance for their services
  • Ensures that all related accounts are identified and properly treated for each bankruptcy customer
  • Prepares necessary service orders to correct errors on newly established accounts or to disconnect accounts that should no longer be in service
  • Upon completion of bankruptcy case, cares for all outstanding balances through application of cure or account write off
  • Provides subject matter expertise on bankruptcy handling and processing
  • Ensures compliance with internal policies and controls
  • Leads or participates, as required, in training and skills development initiatives as a Subject Matter Expert
  • Analyzes court documents to determine status of bankruptcy and protect Verizon’s interests
  • Represents the Bankruptcy group in in cross functional meetings and ensures its needs are considered in system improvement/mechanization projects
  • Monitor incoming customer calls for CPNI compliance

‐ 5+ years of professional experience.

-Detailed knowledge of bankruptcy provisions and laws

‐ Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially in Excel

-Experience in working with attorneys and customers

‐ Employees/Candidates with professional certification (e.g. CPA, CMA) are preferred.

-Proficient in all Verizon billing and reporting systems and collection, credit and finals processes

-Functional knowledge of service order systems

-Excellent oral & written communications skills

‐ Experience in the technology or telecommunications industry preferred, but not required.


Generally requires BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or equivalent work experience required.
