Responsibilities

This individual will be responsible for the portal development and platform outreach associated with implementation of the Verizon Network API program.  This will include the development and execution for the outward facing Verizon Network API developer portal.  For portal development, the individual will manage interactions and internal alignment across the company lines of business involved in the API program in order to plan and implement new API availability through the portal, including the documentation, timelines, and plan of record creation required to socialize and align the internal teams associated with all relevant project/program work streams.  For platform outreach, responsibilities include planning for and managing the on-boarding of specific API’s through the portal to enable developers to learn, buy, get, use, pay for and get service for the APIs.  This position also requires working with the enterprise developer UI team, public relations, and business development teams to plan and execute outward facing hackathons and developer activities to promote the platform.  This position requires experience with developer programs and web portal management

Primary Responsibilities

 

 

  • Managing individual API projects – timeline and launch activities associated with availability through the portal.
  • Managing overall API program  activities associated with the portal
  • Interfacing with Corporate CTO, Product Development and Integration, and Network  to implement APIs
  • Leads/manages the API governance team to align on API prioritization and timing
  • Working with the Network API Product leads to meet the needs of API implementation paths/product strategy
  • Ensuring all relevant project owners & stakeholders are providing required input, etc. to keep timelines and deliverables intact for API launch.
  • Work across internal cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of API implementation and roll-out activities.
  • Represent the Network API team in cross-functional internal meetings as well as external partner meetings.
  • Produce weekly, monthly, quarterly reports on the overall program progress/activities as required.
  • Manage the on-boarding of new platform APIs that become available through the Verizon Network Platform.
  • Create and manage an effective portal that enables developers using the platform APIs to
    • Learn about the API
    • To purchase use of the APIs
    • Get Access and credentials to utilize the APIs
    • Use the APIs within the portal
    • Pay for the service in an on-going manner
    • Get Service when they need assistance.
  • Understand the APIs and usage from aggregator partners and the internal network platform (Service Enablement Layer)
  • Create a mechanism to track usage, sign-ups, and other KPI’s for the platform.
  • Work with the API product development team to package, position, and present the APIs to the enterprise community through the portal.
  • Understand the competitive landscape to optimize the success of the Verizon API program
  • Define and execute developer events such as hackathons

and other outward facing developer activities to promote usage

  • Evangelize the Verizon API program at conferences and developer events
  • Work with PR to position and promote the platform and portal.

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 combined years in technology, business development, product management, sales/marketing and operations
  • Microsoft Project Experience is Required.
  • Demonstrated Passion, Passion, and Passion for APIs and delivering 1st class products.
  • Some experience or working knowledge of REST, SOAP, XML, JSON and other relevant API standards
  • Be comfortable marketing technical products to a technical community
  • Experience with developer community programs and effective marketing outreach methodologies
  • You must be creative and be able to manage competing priorities to achieve desired end state.
  • Experience with product management or technical project management
  • Experience as a Project Manager/Program Manager for technical products.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills and the ability to communicate ideas quickly and effectively, at all levels of management, throughout the organization
  • Collaboration skills and the ability to motivate team members, peers and superiors to action
  • Has a strong sense of how business operates in a holistic viewpoint and be able to bring a macro perspective to business opportunities
  • Seasoned and proven negotiation skills with experience managing complex initiatives across multiple functions.
  • In depth knowledge of the wireless industry including marketing approaches, pricing strategies, business models and regulatory issues is a must
  • Entrepreneurial orientation and abilities - An individual who can function effectively and drive desired results in a fluid, fast-moving and competitive business environment characterized by rapid change
  • Has the ability to make informed decision without much guidance and possesses the skills/desire to function as a business partner to the rest of organization
  • Proven execution skills - It will be important that the successful candidate can successfully execute against the roadmap strategy alongside the existing team that exists within this organization

Education:  Bachelors degree or equivalent; MBA/MS is a plus
