Position Description

The Network Planning Engineer will be responsible for the port capacity management of the Switched Ethernet Services Backbone Networks within the Verizon footprint. You will analyze capacity utilization and trending reports, and initiate capacity relief projects when required. This position will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Initiate network build projects based on network plans.
  • Following through the entire project cycle and collaborating with different groups, which include engineering, project management and construction to ensure project completion on schedule and on budget.
  • Provide capacity relief project forecasts for budgeting purpose, and determine network requirement due to customer inquiries.



  • B.S. degree in Engineering or related industry experience.
  • Strong computer skills; proficient with Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be self-motivated and pro-active.
  • Must be a team player and willing to think independently.
  • Ability to multi-task, detail oriented with strong organization and time management skills

Desired Skills & Experience

Previous telecom network engineering experience or knowledge of the telecom network technology a plus. Knowledge of or experience with TIRKS, CCP, BAAIS, switching technology and Ethernet.
