We are currently recruiting an experienced Network Engineer, to be based in our Sydney office, as a part of Verizon’s wider Network Engineering, Implementation and Support team. This team is responsible for delivering new capacity for Verizon’s Public IP (IP), Private IP (PIP), Ethernet services (CPA), Voice/VOIP and IDN networks from equipment engineering and design, to procuring equipment and creating the specification for installing the equipment.

As an Engineer, you will be required to manage multiple complex projects and liaise with the relevant parties to determine requirements such as scope of work, funding and schedule for delivery. You will engage with other teams as needed such as as Planning, Capacity Management, and Operations, Technical Facilities Engineering, Transmission and Install Engineering, IDN Engineering, capacity management engineering and others to develop the technical solution.

You will act as the Subject Matter Expert for one or more network devices; create and deliver detailed, sometimes complex, technical specifications for the installation of the materials including power/rack/shelf/card/cabling assignments. Creating a Bill of Materials for equipment, cables, and hardware for each project, ordering and tracking of delivery for these materials, and updating financial and inventory databases with equipment including BGW, ICON, SNM and other systems as necessary.

Your role in this team will see you lead the creation or enhancement of engineering systems used by the team, through requirements gathering sessions and user acceptance testing and support. In addition, you will sometimes lead complex ‘First Office Application’ (FOA) projects and the sharing of lessons learned.

In order to be considered for this role, we are looking for the appropriate tertiary qualifications and demonstrated experience in a similar role, coupled with a solid understanding of electrical and electronics engineering principles. Comprehensive network design skills and proven experience managing projects is required. Ideally you will have an ITIL certification, but at a minimum will have a good understanding of technology and service delivery principles.

Being an excellent communicator and self-manager, you have the ability to effectively prioritise projects and other activities to achieve objectives, timelines and deliverables as agreed. A well organised and logical approach to performing work, in order to provide high quality output is fundamental to success, as is proactivity in identifying, notifying and tackling problems as early as possible.

As well as a role that will allow you to maximize your abilities to the full, you can look forward to an attractive package.
