The Monitoring Services team is looking for a Software Engineer responsible for the IBM Netcool Omnibus installation in the Verizon Hosting environment.  Responsible for the full application life cycle of Netcool Omnibus, which will include installation, configuration, upgrades, security, operations, and maintenance.  Also responsible for Unix/Linux system administration for Netcool infrastructure.   Responsible for application integration with other monitoring tools within the organization.   Responsible for working with product SME’s to test and deploy new alerts by developing new rules or modifying existing rules files.


Must be proficient in regular expressions, perl/unix scripting, relational database/SQL with Sysbase and Oracle experience preferred. 

Understand SNMP, MIB based monitoring, syslog monitoring and trap based monitoring. 

Understanding of networking protocols, Name Resolution, VIP’s, HA solutions and Clustered solutions

Proven experience implementing and supporting an enterprise class application in a global environment.

Experience with service assurance and ITIL Service Management and/or ITIL Foundation certification a plus.

Use of Agile Rally software to track project status and progress.

The ability to present and communicate ideas, design, system performance issues at the peer and management level.

Ability to respond to Tier 1 and Tier 2 support issues using various ticketing systems.

The candidate must be adaptable, flexible and available for after-hours and on-call support on a rotational basis as required.

Education: Bachelor’s in computer science, engineering, or related technical field plus 3+ years as Netcool Administrator/Engineer
