Responsibilities

The position will be responsible for leading several medium to large scale projects to develop applications supporting the Verizon OCO/MCO/TCC centers.  The position will be responsible for leading the overall project design and architecture, defining the key milestones and schedule, selection of project members, primary interface to participating organizations, and managing the day to day project activity.  The application solutions will include multi-server hardware architecture, support workflow design, documentation and training, as well as design and development of monitoring and process automation.  The innovative Design solutions will leverage the latest hardware and software technology, together with complex enterprise-grade applications, in partnership with CTO to manage the many Verizon voice and data networks.  Successful solutions will obtain the CTO KPI’s as well as IT objectives to reduce cost through consolidation and process efficiency improvement.

With system consolidation, new technology, and the increasing complexity of IT systems, the need for developing automation toolsets and web-applications is necessary to aggregate multiple medium to large scale systems.  To lead the projects, a Subject Matter expert in technical matters and team management is needed to prioritize and delegate the development team’s deliverables and tasks.  The Subject Matter expert will be providing the software design and creation of highly integrated support models and interfaces which will achieve the operational goals of the business.  Also with increasing Newtech development and tier 3 level supports of our systems, the SME will have to work with our near-shore team to achieve the project objectives.

Lead the development and deployment of applications supporting Verizon’s high cap services.  Developing system interfaces to backend servers and mainframe systems to aggregate and automate screens, smart logics and business functionalities.  It is the responsibility of the position to determine the support model that should be developed and to direct the development staff.

Architect and design the automation of Design Services processes to reduce support costs by improving efficiencies and enabling near-shore support teams within the bounds set by Legal and Compliance.

Deliver complex, multi-server, multi-component, multi-environment hardware architectural solutions to resolve competing business needs in aggregating system details within budget, capacity, standardization and security. 

Qualifications

Advanced Skills:

Needs a minimum of 7 years of recent work experience leading complex projects requiring the following skills:

  • Very Strong Java/J2EE/JSF2/XML/WDSL
  • Strong UNIX and Shell scripting
  • Strong Application server and EJB infrastructure
  • Experience in mainframe usage & 3270 emulator navigation
  • Experience with TIRKS jxAPI
  • Operations Systems:  Sun Solaris, Linux and Window Servers
  • RDBMS:  Working with large databases (not DBA), Oracle 11+, MySql
  • Middleware:  Weblogic, Glassfish

 Required Skills and Experience:

  • Candidate must have 6-7 years development experience in both software development or application support
  • Detailed knowledge of software development lifecycle and application support
  • Ability to work independently and within a team-oriented environment with strong analytical/problem solving skills as well as strong communication/interpersonal skills
  • Must be flexible and adapt with aggressive / changing deadlines
  • Requires in-depth knowledge of job-related functional area and of the business.
  • Preferred 6-7 years of job-related, systems analysis experience, ordering, provisioning and activation of POTS and Highcap circuits
  • Experience and understanding of the following areas within Verizon Application Support Functions:  Ericsson TIRKS and WFA, Ordering and Provisioning

 Education:

  • Required:          Bachelor’s in Information Systems or Equivalent
  • Preferred:         BS Comp Science with Telecommunications

 Experience:

  • Required:          7+ years
  •  Preferred:         10+ years
