Responsibilities

The Senior Consultant of Strategic Services plays a key contributor role in assuring Verizon Digital Media Services (DMS) meets its strategic growth objectives.  As a trusted principal advisor in support of important strategic sales efforts this role is also vital in the planning, evaluation, and implementation of potential partnerships and acquisitions.

 

As part of this consultative role, this position will encompass (but is not limited to) the following primary responsibilities:

 

  1. Support of strategic of sales efforts
    1. Assist in the initial definition of key client requirements and objectives through direct client interaction as well as Request for Proposal (RFP) responses.
    2. Act as primary contributor in the definition and development of client “scope and approach” recommendations intended to provide guidance to sales regarding:
      1. Identification and impact of any disparities between client requirements and DMS platform and/or process capabilities (if any)
      2. Direct recommendations on how and when disparities might be addressed
      3. Recommendations on implementation and integration approaches necessary to meet client requirements
    3. Coordination with internal cross functional departments (e.g.  sales, operations, technology, professional services, product development, marketing, and senior management) with the intent of defining and communicating client technology and process requirements, impacts/gaps, as well as recommended approaches.
    4. Attendance of important client sales meetings providing subject matter expertise as well as supporting sales in the presentation of the tactical approach and technical elements of proposal responses.

 

  1. Support planning and implementation of strategic business and technology acquisitions and partnerships
    1. Provide recommendations on key industry partnership strategies and associated technologies necessary to enable DMS to meet strategic objectives and/or gain competitive advantage (as defined by product and business development).
    2. Provide guidance on competitive and/or disruptive industry technologies, ventures, standards, etc.
    3. Assist product and business development in the definition of requirements and tactical objectives with direct ties to meeting strategic goals (including the identification of potential acquisition, partnership, technology, targets).
    4. Assist in the evaluation of potential acquisition, partnership, technology, targets – providing input on potential target:
      1. Knowledge base
      2. Technologies (suitability, capabilities, features, and  valuation)
      3. Potential DMS benefit of client base
      4. Operation and process Integration scope
      5. Proof of concept activities
      6. Provide input to monetary model evaluation
    5. Execution planning and technical implementation management of acquired assets and operations as well as partnership endeavors
    6. Coordination amongst other DMS departments to ensure successful and timely integration

Qualifications

 

  1. The preferred candidate should have a demonstrable industry background – incorporating:
    1. 8+ years in the VOD, Linear, Live, TVE, OTT, and/or Dynamic Advertising digital distribution service industry.
    2. Preferred candidate should have held senior position(s) in a complex technology, product development/management, integration, system sales support, and/or business development role - providing guidance on strategic engagements.
    3. Preferred candidate must possess a well-established track record for delivering successful media and entertainment client engagements, supporting large, complex environments while building strong client and internal cross functional relationships. 
    4. The position requires extensive experience in the video media content management and publishing industry (i.e. Online Video Platform - OVP) as well as multiplatform digital distribution environment and related technologies with an emphasis on CDN models, network architecture, web applications, API’s and OSS/BSS platforms.
    5. Our client engagements will require a consultative approach with a high degree of professionalism, so effective oral and written communication with all levels of client and VZ organizational entities is required
    6. Notable project management experience
