Position Responsibilities:

This intern position will work side by side with Program Managers (PMs) to champion, develop, manage, and drive key relationships that are critical to success of telecommunications business and impact the entire customer base.  This position works with cross functional teams.  This position assists in obtaining total Verizon wide requirements, maximizing marketplace leverage, determining competitive alternatives and prioritizing business objectives for cross functional teams. This intern will be required to give a presentation of their findings to senior management at the conclusion of their internship. This position may perform analysis of financial and business issues related to supplier proposals.  This position may assist in negotiations with domestic and global suppliers for complex products and services supporting core business processes. This position also may manage the optimization of inventory processes at the garage level.  Depending on the specific role assigned to the intern, the responsibilities may vary within 6 focal areas which are listed below.

  • Sourcing/Contract Management
  • Purchasing
  • Logistics
  • Systems
  • Sustainability
  • Fleet

Qualifications

 

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Supply Chain or equivalent major
  • Currently enrolled in a full time degree program and returning to the program after the completion of the internship
  • Completed at least two years toward a Bachelor's Degree at an accredited college or university
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PC applications – i.e. PowerPoint, Excel and Word
  • Strong project management skills
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Strong written skills with the ability to prepare informative and persuasive presentations for senior management
  • Outstanding oral communications skills.  Must be able and willing to lead meetings and give presentations to large audiences
  • Demonstrated leadership skills (e.g., leadership role in academics, sports teams or other extracurricular organizations)
  • Must be self-motivated and pro-active
  • Must be a team player
  • Knowledge or previous experience in one of the 6 focal areas of Supply Chain Services
  • Interest/experience in the telecommunications industry
