Responsibilities

  • Deliver security data analysis and event tracking consulting activities as a full time security engineer assigned to an enterprise, financial customer
  • Obtain, review, and analyze reports and system activity information from various tools, Tier 1 staff, and the Verizon Managed Security Services (MSS) group
  • Work with a set of guidelines to help identify critical event data for additional analysis and escalation as appropriate
  • Work with Tier 1 and Tier 3 staff to refine categorization and prioritization criteria as needed based on trends and lessons learned from ongoing operations
  • Review reports and system activity logs to identify critical events, categorize according to priority, and escalate as appropriate. 
  • Work with customer and Verizon staff to track open actions and close as needed.
  • Review items escalated from Tier 1 for accuracy and confirm priority, escalate to Tier 3 as appropriate

Qualifications

Required Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or related field involving analytics preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of related work experience in a security analyst position where primary responsibility is incident response, analysis, and investigation
  • Strong analytical skills required
  • Ability to review reports and system activity logs to identify critical events, categorize according to priority, and escalate as appropriate
  • Applicable knowledge of Information Technology and Networking
  • Must have excellent verbal and written skills
  • Ability to make formal presentations to management and technical staff

 

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Previous consulting experience within a Professional Services organization
  • Incident response
  • Industry certification such as CCIE, CCNA, CISSP, CCSE, MCSE desirable
