Designs, modifies, and implements systems enhancements for the VISION Pricing subsystem. Provides technical and project leadership on medium to large size projects, providing guidance to project teams of 1 – 7 staff members, performing project management activities such as planning, sizing, configuration and scheduling activities.

Analyze / collect client requirements, write program specifications, perform data modeling, document development approach, and develop testing strategy.  Also perform and organize review of code and post production support activities.

Work as a team member on large, highly complex technical/programming projects under minimal direction of senior staff and management.  Regularly perform programming and/or analysis duties and produces specific deliverables relating to various phases of the systems life cycle using agile practices and principles.   Develops and delivers software solutions in small value driven iterations, participates and or facilitates daily meetings with project team.

Be self driven, work independently, and require minimal supervision on intermediate to large complex tasks.  Responsible for producing high quality deliverables in a timely fashion.

Analyze problems, develop solutions, and make decisions to ensure projects / initiatives are implemented successfully with solid solutions. Collaborates with cross application teams and is capable of accepting tasks that may cross applications and platforms.

Proactively manages and prevent issues from occurring and focus on a successful customer experience. The incumbent must be able to successfully work within the guidelines of Agile Principles and be able to guide others in this effort.

Continuously provide technical coaching and Subject Matter Expertise for individuals always encouraging innovative team solutions while providing detailed leadership on projects and producing specific deliverables relating to various phases of the Agile life cycle on intermediate projects of medium complexity.

Performs some technical evaluation of products. Ensure systems implementations occur in accordance with established IVDM (Improved VISION Development Methodologies) / Agile and Change Control procedures.

Proactively communicate status reports and issues to manager. Successfully completes all relevant technical and professional training programs in accordance with Performance Agreement goals.


  • 5+ years experience in design, develop, testing and operational support of DB2, JCL, COBOL, Expeditor, MQ , SQL, Visio, ZOS, Endeavor, and data modeling skills. 
  • Excellent technical skills - must be able to analyze, evaluate, test, debug, document, and implements mission critical order APIs and COBOL programs for Vision Billing systems order and Pricing systems.  Strong hands-on development experience with XML parsing methodologies required. 
  • Ability to design and code from specifications, capture business requirements, write detailed technical designs and prepare detailed specifications, and identify operational and support needs for software delivered.
  •  2 + years experience with PC and desktop applications competency (e.g., MS Office, Outlook, etc.),
  • Strong meeting facilitation skills. 
  • Strong experience with RAD application development / agile development methodologies, principle and practices preferred as well as ability to write User Stories.  In-depth knowledge of information systems concepts and applicable methodologies, tools, standards, and procedures.
  • Must have strong project management skills and ability to plan and meet milestones.  Hands on experience with Agile project management tools.
  • Knowledge of latest Telecommunication industry technologies and Telecommunications experience
  • Knowledge of distributed systems, and SOA also preferred. 


  • Ability to be a self-starter – someone that can find the right contact or answer on their own.  This person has to have shown that they can handle projects of high complexity and can assess impacts to the current application. 
  • Should have demonstrated decision-making and leadership abilities.  Also, strong interpersonal skills, organizational and problem solving abilities, collaboration skills, and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt and learn new development processes and/or methodologies and work through issues independently is required and must be able to welcome change. 
  • Ability to work flexible hours and weekends to meet project deadlines
  • Knowledge of Verizon Wireless billing systems a plus.
