Responsibilities

Purpose:

The holder of this role is responsible for the supporting product marketing and management activities within Verizon’s Professional Services portfolio that helps drive an increase in sales and global revenue growth. The Professional Services Product Marketing team aims to drive revenues through ensuring that Professional Services Offerings are made available to meet market need and that the Professional Services Offerings are positioned in the most exemplary way to drive understanding and excitement of our capabilities and knowledge of the clear value proposition. In addition and key to Verizon’s Professional Services strategy, is developing the linkage between Professional Services and Verizon’s core product portfolios, through customer-centric, themed, Business Programs which foster long term strategic relationships with our customers and deliver market share and high margin to Verizon.

Role:

The role of Consultant Professional Services Product Marketing:

  • Contributing to the Professional Services Product and Business Program roadmap through conducting market research, competitor analysis, stakeholder workshops and market sizing analysis;
  • Working with the Professional Services delivery organizations to define new Offerings, inclusive of translating technical specifications into business level language which is then described in the Professional Services Offerings Service Descriptions and Statements of Work;
  • Development and management of Professional Services sales and customer facing collateral, inclusive of creating customer presentations, solutions briefs, battle cards and proposal documentation;
  • Working with other members of the Professional Services Product Marketing team to help build sales and customer facing material in support of new Business Programs being launched;
  • Gathering of information that contributes to financial forecasting at the Offering and Business Program level and helps justify the case for or against investment in a new initiative;
  • Working with a cross-functional team to develop business processes that enable Verizon and its strategic partners to interact and perform basic business functions such as sales engagement, order submission and management, project management, invoice reconciliation and accounting;
  • Where required, product development through Verizon’s Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) process to deliver new capability against Verizon’s internal procedures and standards for product development;
  • Fostering close working relationships with other Product Management teams to understand global product strategy and forthcoming product launches in order to define how specific Professional Services capabilities align against the product’s they are related to, and ensuring that Professional Services are positioned at every opportunity alongside the core product sets they support;
  • As required, providing presentations to Sales via face to face and web/audio conferences on the Professional Services portfolio, key Business Programs, core value propositions, capabilities and the relevance of Professional Services in the context of driving strategic revenue growth and all-encompassing customer relationships;
  • Communication and collaboration with the Professional Services delivery teams during prioritization, development, launch and ongoing product management of Business Programs and Offerings;
  • Liaising with Marketing Communications and the Go to Market team to deliver upon agreed collateral in order to support a launch of an offering or a business program;

As determined by Professional Services Product Marketing and Marketing Communications, working with a cross functional team to generate successful Action Campaigns which raise awareness of Verizon’s Professional Services capabilities and ultimately drive new sales and revenue within the portfolio;

Qualifications

Education Requirement: Bachelor’s degree minimum

Required Experience: Related and proven experience in a product marketing, professional services or business development environment.

Skills Specific to the role:

  • Understanding of the IT and communications market, technologies and platforms in order to be able to articulate capabilities and value proposition: specialist expertise in any field of Cloud, Security, Unified Communications, Mobility or Machine-to-Machine is highly desirable;
  • Ability to translate complex technical requirements and specifications into business-led themes which resonate with customers core objectives and pain points;
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, in addition to strong analytical skills;
  • Must be able to interact cross functionally within peer group within Verizon;
  • Ability to interact cross functionally with partners and customers desirable;
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and ensure cohesive efforts toward a shared goal highly desirable;
  • Documents procedures that conform to a prescribed style and format;
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently on a task with limited support, subject to regular reviews;
  • Able to plan one’s own time and manage multiple tasks to a deadline;
  • Enthusiastic to understanding formal and informal networks and using this knowledge to accomplish goals;
  • The ability to operate in the technical, commercial, financial and regulatory spheres within the Verizon;
  • Experience with conducting Competitive Analysis, Sector Analysis, Market Research, Forecasting and Business Case modelling;
  • Ability to think outside the box and communicate new ideas which may generate new opportunity for Verizon;

Typical Profile Requirements:

  • Has worked within the IT Services, Communication Services or Consultancy Industry for some years and understands the fundamental requirements of product management;
  • Exhibits high standards in the quality of work produced and strong attention to detail;
  • Professional Demeanor, Trust and Integrity: demonstrating and encouraging behavior in accordance with social and ethical standards.
  • Enjoys collaborating with others, internal and external to the team, whilst also being able to work independently;
  • Communicates effectively when faced with challenging situations or stressful environments, especially when support is required;
  • Customer focused and able to relate Verizon’s objectives to one’s role;
  • Exhibits enthusiasm to achieve more and develop personally, particularly through taking on new tasks and sometimes stepping outside of his/her comfort zone;

Experienced at working in a large, matrix-managed, global organization and taking a global perspective on projects, whilst also understands the complexities associated with doing business in a global environment;
